I want to smell dark matter
Another trailer 8 months before release, and for a "teaser" it's pretty long and shows a lot.

But it's a pretty good teaser it has Florence Pugh in it.

This looks like it will be easily as big a hit as "The Marvels" or "Agatha All Along." The Disney Bomb Machine continues to churn out content.

Looks more watchable than the last trailer.

It's funny how they're still hiding the villain's face when you can just, like, Google it?

Taskmaster obviously dies early considering how little we see of her.

Will wait for it to hit Disney+, but I'm all in for Yelena!

A behind the scenes video showing practical effects and the actors doing their own stunts is probably much better marketing than another trailer would be.

Florence Pugh is good at jumping off buildings!

Bump for anyone who's seen it but can't find this thread.

It's good, I liked it. Florence Pugh is a great actress and feels like a proper movie star so she makes an excellent lead. Lewis Pullman was really good as Bob too and the part with him defeating the manifestation of his dark side was quite moving. David Harbour gets a LOT of broad humour and, while it might be a bit much in places, he really goes for it and did make me laugh several times. He delivers on the emotional stuff with Yelena too. I like Hannah John-Kamen as a Ghost (yes she's beautiful it's not just that!) though I did wish they went into her character a bit more, like maybe show what she saw in the void or at least mention Bill Foster. On the other hand I liked that they didn't go into Bucky's backstory again because that's very much been done.

Taskmaster's death was a nice surprise moment though ultimately does'nt mean much since they only mention her once afterwards. Not really sure how well Val works as a villain, she feels too much like Selina Meyer a lot of the time. Giving her a void vision was a good idea but she dosn't really seem any different afterwards and it doesn't do much to recontextualise her actions.

Action is good - thanfully the editing isn't all choppy like some of these movies - with the fight against Sentry in the tower being the highlight. I found the murky colours a bit annoying in the first act when they're underground, it was hard to see things at times. Or I'm getting old! The void stuff looked good.

Overall it's good and feels like it has a lot more substance than the shallow nothing of things like Brave New World.

I'm going to say it finishes with a worldwide box office of $384million, losing Disney about $66million. But hey, it looks like Snow White is going to wind up losing somewhere around $425million (it just left theaters Thursday), so you've got to keep things in perspective. :)

Adjusted for inflation, the 2008 Hulk film made something like $399million. So if I'm right, it would become the 2nd lowest grossing MCU film, beating only "The Marvels".

I want to revise. Call it $388 million for a loss of $62 million.

So, yeah. I should've stuck with my first number. It's going to be lucky to scrape out $383 million. :(

I did not know that. That might explain why the box office has absolutely collapsed in the past few weeks. For awhile it had "legs" and looked like it might actually catch--or even overtake "Captain America," and then one day it just collapsed. It's going to wind up doing better than "Eternals" in the domestic box office but "Eternals" was much stronger globally.

Now free on Disney plus.

I think it's pretty similar to Superman in terms of quality, if not better, to be honest, but maybe other would disagree. (I really like Florence Pugh so I'm biased.)

Is it me, or has Marvel just forgotten that superheros need to be...heroic? And at least a little sexy?

At the end, I watched JLD introduce them to the crowd as "The New Avengers!" and I thought, these people are gonna headline the franchise now? They are the standard bearers? Ick. Where did all the A-list stars go? I was reminded of SNL after the original cast left.
