When all of us veteran viewers know that it's because Riker slept with Keiko and SHE BROKE HIS PENIS.

Shatner was wearing a hair piece during TOS. As for the girdle, I've never dressed him so I don't know.

However, I've seen pics of you, and I understand if you sympathize with the actors on this current show.
 
Off-topic (Star Trek) but since we're talking BTS costuming stuff, I read Alan Rickman was initially supposed to wear a girdle under his costume in "Dogma." They decided it wasn't necessary, but he wore it anyway because he thought it helped his character portrayal.

Back on topic, you gotta like how, as the TOS cast got older, they started developing Starfleet manternity uniforms.
 
I've never understood why the showrunners feel the need to redesign the uniforms for every single series.
 
It was interesting watching the 3-step transition from TNG uniform 1.0 to TNG/GEN/DS9 uniform 2.0 to FC/DS9 uniform 3.0, all within 3 years.

Meanwhile VOY was stuck with the old 2.0 uniforms for 7 years HAHAHAHA.

TNG uniform 1.0 just looked uncomfortable as hell and I read somewhere that they stunk. I remember seeing trailers for season 3, saw the collars and was vaguely excited. Those were the best uniforms IMO because they framed the actors' heads better and looked more comfortable because they were two piece.

I always liked the TOS movies uniform... the two piece, but they looked like they would be awkward to wear and they had those flared pants cuffs as a left over from the TV series. It wouldn't have been my choice for a utilitarian service uniform. I was just watching a clip from TWOK last night and thought to myself all those accessories on the top look like they would snag on random shit. Opinions change as time goes by.
