missmanners
grrrrrrrr...
The kind that comes in a bag with a packet of seasoning?
I'm in the mood to experiment (which I often do with odds and ends of stuff in the fridge) so I've been cooking it all day. I never soak beans overnight, I do the quick boil method (bring them to a rapid boil then let them cool and skim off the stuff floating on top). So I've been simmering these beans, adding water when needed. Recipe says two quarts, yeah right. I've used at least a gallon and it's just about perfect. I tossed in a handfull of baby carrots that were starting to get a bit too wrinkled to eat raw and some browned italian sausage I had leftover from making pizza last weekend. So far the only seasonings have been that packet that comes with the beans and some fresh ground pepper.
Right before serving I'm going to toss in a handful of fresh chopped onion, then dish it up and top with the last blob of sour cream and whats left in the bottom of the salsa jar.
That beer cheese bread I'm trying to find would be perfect with this!
