2018-19 ACC Basketball.

Experienced roster helps Gonzaga in upset over No. 1 Duke

In the final seconds of Gonzaga's win over No. 1 Duke in the Maui Invitational championship, Blue Devils freshman R.J. Barrett decided to put the game in his hands. As he drove toward the middle of the floor and searched for a shot, Bulldogs junior Rui Hachimura, who recorded a game-high 20 points and seven rebounds in Gonzaga's thrilling 89-87 victory, smiled at him. Then, he blocked Barrett's shot, a punctuating play for a Gonzaga team that relied on its experience in the most intense game of the college basketball season thus far.

Chris Lykes scored 18 points and Miami (4-0) embraced the morning tipoff in a dominant 85-49 win over La Salle (0-5) in the first round of the Wooden Legacy on Thursday. The Hurricanes , who came in as the highest-scoring team in the tournament, continued to put up big numbers and got to the lane with ease. Five players scored in double figures for Miami.

De'Andre Hunter matched his career high with 23 points to help fourth-ranked Virginia (5-0) hold off Dayton (4-1) 66-59 on Thursday in the Battle 4 Atlantis semifinals.

Longhorns stun No.7 Tar Heels in Las Vegas

Kerwin Roach II blended aggression and good decision making, just how coach Shaka Smart drew it up. Roach scored a career-best 32 points and helped Texas hold off a late charge to beat No. 7 North Carolina 92-89 on Thursday and advance to the final of the Las Vegas Invitational.

Texas (5-0) plays in the championship game Friday against No. 11 Michigan State (4-1). No.7 North Carolina (5-1) gets No. 17 UCLA (4-1) in the consolation game.

De'Andre Hunter had 20 points and nine rebounds to help No. 4 Virginia beat No. 25 Wisconsin 53-46 on Friday in the Battle 4 Atlantis championship game. Ty Jerome added 11 points for the Cavaliers (6-0), who led 33-18 after a strong first half, and then sputtered offensively as the Badgers kept pushing back. Virginia made just 2 of 16 shots out of halftime and shot 26 percent for the second half.

North Carolina trailed for most of its game against UCLA, but with a potentially disastrous trip to Las Vegas looming, the seventh-ranked Tar Heels kept being aggressive offensively -- and it paid off. Coby White had 19 points and eight assists, Luke Maye added 16 points and eight rebounds and North Carolina beat No. 17 UCLA 94-78 in the consolation game of the Las Vegas Invitational on Friday.

Mfiondu Kabengel hit a 3-pointer with a half-second left in overtime, and No. 14 Florida State advanced to the championship game of the AdvoCare Invitational with a 79-76 win over No. 19 LSU on Saturday. The Seminoles (5-0) will play defending national champion Villanova on Sunday.

Senior guard Zach Johnson scored 24 points, including a follow-up dunk with 0.2 seconds remaining, as Miami pulled out a 78-76 victory over Fresno State on Friday in the semifinals of the Wooden Legacy Tournament at Cal State Fullerton.

UNC signs coach Roy Williams to 8-year extension. The contract will keep Williams on the sideline through the 2027-28 season.

Williams has lead the Tar Heels to three National Titles (2005, 2009, 2017) and five Final Fours.

He won the ACC Title eight times.
