2019 Stanley Cup Finals: Boston vs. St. Louis

Why a bunch of ex-Boston Bruins are backing Rick Bowness in the Stanley Cup Final
"Losing sucks. But losing to such a great person in Rick makes it a little bit easier, I guess," said MacKinnon, who has a house on the same lake as Bowness back in Nova Scotia. "I mean, he's got the most coached games in NHL history."

Tampa Bay Lightning's Steven Stamkos inching closer to return against Dallas Stars
Stamkos has missed six-plus months since having surgery to repair a core muscle injury. He has been practicing with the team and even took the ice in a game jersey to celebrate the Lightning's winning the East title last week.

Quest complete: Tampa Bay Lightning blank Dallas Stars to capture elusive Stanley Cup
The Tampa Bay Lightning are the champions of bubble hockey. Brayden Point scored his playoff-best 14th goal, and the Lightning beat the Dallas Stars 2-0 on Monday to win the Stanley Cup and finish the most unusual NHL postseason in history, staged nearly entirely in quarantine because of the coronavirus pandemic. Nonetheless, the clock's hitting zeros in an empty arena set off a joyful celebration for a team that endured years of playoff heartbreak and two months in isolation.

How the Tampa Bay Lightning learned to be Stanley Cup champions
"Once you get to the playoffs, the difference in talent between the teams is minimal. It really does come down to resiliency. Taking advantage of the breaks that you get along the way, and overcoming the ones that go against you," said Lightning GM Julien BriseBois. "Once you have a good enough team to get into the playoffs, it comes down to who is going to find a way."

Tampa Bay Lightning celebrate Stanley Cup with boat parade, ceremony at Raymond James Stadium

The Tampa Bay Lighting celebrated their Stanley Cup title with a boat parade and ceremonies Wednesday at Raymond James Stadium. The boat parade featured forward Alex Killom on a personal watercraft with Steven Stamkos riding on the back as they held up the Stanley Cup and did laps around the boats in the Hillsborough River. The parade was followed by a public trophy celebration at the stadium with a capped attendance of 16,000 people. "We're excited to share this with Tampa," Killorn said. "I know they weren't here throughout the series and in the bubble, but this is our time to enjoy it with them because [the fans] are a big part of this team." Among the highlights of the celebration was a video package of the Lightning's playoff run and a congratulatory video message from ESPN broadcaster and Lightning season-ticket holder Dick Vitale.

Tampa Bay Lightning say Steven Stamkos will be ready for 2020-21 NHL season

The Tampa Bay Lightning said star center Steven Stamkos will be ready for the 2020-21 season, finally revealing details of the injury that limited him to just one game in their Stanley Cup championship run. General manager Julien BriseBois said Stamkos suffered a compensatory injury while rehabbing from sports hernia surgery, which he underwent on March 2. Stamkos "fully recovered" from that surgery and participated in Phase 2 of the NHL's return to play protocols, working out at team facilities. "He did a tremendous job rehabbing during the pause and getting himself ready," BriseBois said. "As it happens sometimes with injuries, and particularly with this injury, sometimes your body compensates. It eventually triggered what we believe is a compensation injury that has developed into or turned out to be related to this injury."
