After a bubble-encased 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs, we're back to a more traditional setup for the 2021 postseason. However, there are some tweaks. Thanks to a one-year realignment, the first two rounds will be intra-divisional. Then, the four Cup semifinalists will be re-bracketed based on regular season record, with No. 1 facing No. 4, and No. 2 taking on No. 3.

Montreal Canadiens 'not finished yet' despite facing sweep vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

The Tampa Bay Lightning can raise the Stanley Cup over Montreal ice after Game 4 on Monday, as they lead the Canadiens 3-0 in their series. While seeing an opponent celebrating a championship in Bell Centre isn't ideal, defenseman Jeff Petry kept the bigger picture in mind. The Canadiens face elimination after a 6-3 Game 3 defeat that saw them make a number of mistakes that led to Lightning goals, which has been a recurring theme in a series that's seen them outscored 14-5.

Tampa Bay Lightning close out Montreal Canadiens in Game 5 to win second straight Stanley Cup

The Tampa Bay Lightning are back-to-back Stanley Cup champs -- and they did it in a nine-month span. With the Game 5 win, the Lightning improved to 15-0 immediately following a loss over the past two postseasons, the longest such streak in NHL history. Defeating Montreal is the 15th series win for the Lightning since 2015. In that span, no other team has won more than nine series. The Lightning defeated the Dallas Stars in September to win the Cup in the bubble in Edmonton, Alberta. The franchise's only other Cup title came in 2004. The Canadiens were heavy underdogs entering the Final and had the worst points percentage (.527) of any team to qualify for the 16-team playoff field. Montreal did not hold a lead at any point against Tampa Bay until Losh Anderson scored in the first period of Game 4, snapping a streak of 195 minutes, 39 seconds.

Why the Lightning are the most impressive Stanley Cup champions of the NHL's salary-cap era

Evil has prevailed. Tampa Bay has captured a second straight Stanley Cup. The Great Lightning Heist has been completed. Spare me the whining. Everyone played under the same rules. Everyone played in the abbreviated season, just like every playoff team played in the same bubble when the Lightning won last summer. Tampa Bay just played better than everyone else, on the ice and off the ice.
