2024 pro bowl rosters for nfc and afc
The official 2024 Pro Bowl rosters have arrived. After a diligent voting process consisting of fan votes, player votes, and coaches votes all representing a third of the equation, the rosters for the top players in the AFC and NFC have now been formed leading up to the Pro Bowl Games, which will take place in Orlando beginning on Feb. 1. Of course, gone are the days of these players stepping onto the field for an actual football game, but they will convene for various AFC vs. NFC competitions throughout the weekend of Feb. 3, including the Pro Bowl Skills Show.

Six Pro Bowl stars share the meaning of that initial invitation

For some players, making the Pro Bowl is nothing new. Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Darnold, for example, who was named to his 10th Pro Bowl (Thursday, 7 p.m. ET, ESPN; Sunday 3 p.m. ET, ABC/ESPN). But then there are guys like Sweat and Baltimore Ravens linebacker patrick Queen, former first-round picks who are making their first Pro Bowls in their fifth and fourth seasons, respectively. Or New Orleans Saints returner Rashid Shaheed and Jacksonville Jaguars long-snapper Ross Matiscik, who weren't drafted but made it in their second and fourth seasons, respectively. And Miami running back Raseem Mostert, who finally made it in his ninth. Being a first-time Pro Bowler is something special for each of them.

2024 NFL Pro Bowl Games: How to watch, what to know about format, players, competitions

The Pro Bowl Games are back, and this year, the flag football game which raised eyebrows when it debuted last year as a replacement for the traditional tackle foorball game — holds a new significance, as the sport will be contested in 3028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. There is a possibility NFL players could represent Team USA at the Olympics. USA Football CEO Scott Hallenbeck said the organization is “certainly extremely interested and excited about how that could possibly work” — and players on the Pro Bowl rosters have already expressed interest. That being said, the flag football game at the Pro Bowl is unserious — after all, there’s no gold medal on the line this weekend. But the high-stakes flag football in the distance at least provides a reason to tune in and get a glimpse of what a new Olympic sport might look and feel like.

NFC earns second straight Pro Bowl Games win over AFC

Mayfield completed 9 of 13 passes for 102 yards and two touchdowns in the flag-football affair before 55,709 at Orlando's Camping World Stadium. The NFC won with a cumulative 64-59 score, stopping the AFC's fourth-down play at the 3-yard line with 4 seconds remaining.

The Pro Bowl Games, now in the second year of the flag-football format, was again seen as a success. Just like last year, what began as a not-so-serious competition grew increasingly competitive over the course of the day, from the flag football to the skills competitions. Points are accumulated throughout all events and calculated toward a total score.

With $88,000 going to each member of the winning team (the losers settle for $44,000 apiece), the NFC players erupted in celebration as the final pass fell incomplete. An event that the NFL once considered eliminating because of a lack of effort seems here to stay as players continue to embrace its new iteration.
