Menchaca's uncle told CNN that he and his family were "devastated" to find out about his nephew's death from media reports rather than the Army.
Notification of the family before running a story naming the dead should be compulsary. IMHO the people responsible for this should be prosecuted.

Damn. Someone made an error, or just followed a fucked up policy. I can't stand leftists who are 100% whine, and 0% helping.

It's not that simple. It's testing the waters. The sensationalist media keeps pushing and pushing. Run the story faster, check the facts less, care about the people less. Katy Couric asking is she can get an interview with the man in the helicopter while is rescuing Katrina victims from rooftops.

It won't end until we call for it to end.

Actually, there are laws against it. But like every other law in this country that makes any goddman sense, it probably won't be enforced in this instance.

"It's very upsetting to me that they would give you details of the torture, of the beheading," said Mario Vasquez, Menchaca's uncle in Houston. "Who tells the media when we don't know before they do?"
Menchaca's mother had already heard the reports when a member of the Army's casualty assistance office arrived at her Brownsville home Tuesday morning.
