A troll defends trolling...at first...

OK, I watched that two times. I don't get his reasoning in the second half. I don't know if I am not smart enough or just turn a blind eye, or if it's on him. But to me, it looks like he's building up a good argument by clearly distinguishing between harrassing and trolling, and then, he throws it into the bin completely by arguing that if a troll lasts long enough, it may become the same thing as harassment (as in threatening people and their families). That doesn't make sense to me at all. To me, trolling does not include anything that may have a impact on a person's RL. So, even if it is done constantly for a long time and may frustrate and leave an emotional or intellectual imprint on the target, it is still not harassment as defined in the video. In fact, the possibility of ignoring it (by means of ignoring/not replying, banning, logging out) may even be a deciding factor in distinguishing between trolling and harassment.

Way I see it, there is a lot of harassment going on on the internet, but unfortunately, people choose to label it trolling, thus muddying the waters.

^^^ I have to agree. He is trying to be too witty imo and he is all over the place. I wonder if maybe if he needs his meds changed.

He asked if there are two kinds of trolling there at the end, and I think there are definitely at least two kinds. I think we all love the kind of trolling that makes us laugh, or the trolling that is aimed at people perceived as having some power, especially when the troll is really good at it. People who think death threats or other violent threats are good trolling are lazy dumb ass trolls :rwmad:

quote of the week

Harrassing and death threats are flaming not trolling. This guy has no clue.
Seriously NO Clue. A few years back, I joined a website, called Classmates. Later it hooked up with Facebook and I was re-introed to my graduation class. They comprise 20% of my friendlist. The rest are Wordforgers, Ellison Fans, TK, Barscape, Schweine in Weilteil, People I work with, Barscapers, and Poetry Buds. I also have seven family members because all I have are seven family members. The high school mob behave like viscious trolls, though they swear they are true blue, flag saluters. When they are not busy plagarising greeting cards, they pray like mad dogs. One floods my notifications with Bible verses. This wouldn't be a problem, but, they are showing off their gun collections while they bully.
