An Episode of TNG I've Never Seen.

Amazing. There's actually an episode of TNG on SpikeTV that I've never seen before. Something about Data being possessed by aliens that make different hieroglyphics appear on his head and chest. Lots of hamming it up by Spiner.

A lot of people didn't like that ep. I remember it, and remember liking it.

This was the period of time when they knew the series would last for seven seasons, and didn't give a shit about ratings anymore. Thus, they started taking plot chances that succeeded more than failed. I think that was one of the ones that didn't quite succeed.

Masks. It's allright actually.

It seems okay, though I stepped in halfway through.

I just find Spiner irritating, and watching him rotate through several personalities like Sybil grates.

Spiner's crazy acting makes it enjoyable.

I never cared for that ep. The next one where Troi starts mackin' Worf and almost kills herself is good, though.

Spinner was best as Bob Wheeler.

I didn't like it personally. Total WTF episode. Good thing it was a S7 episode, or it would have definitely hurt the ratings.

I do remember one of the producers making that statement after TNG went off the air though. I guess when you produce one of biggest, if not the biggest, syndicated shows in history, you don't have much time to hang around on BBSs acting important. You, otoh, obviously have lots of time.

I remember thinking at the time they seemed to be showcasing the different actors talents... letting them audition for other parts.

I was under the impression that there was a writers' strike during season 7 and this caused a lot of the episodes to suck. Was "Masks" finished before the strike?
