An Experiment

3 cans condensed chicken noodle soup (noodles drained out and already eaten yesterday)

Slightly less than 1/2 tub vacume packed rice from Sam's club (Del Rio or some such)

Slightly less than 1/2 tub vacume packed Carnitas from Sam's club. (Same brand)

Re-heated in a metal pot over a stove top. I call it "leftover surprise"

I'll let everyone know how it turns out. :D

If you don't like that, I've got a mean recipie for Chicken Paprikash.

Shit, enough salt/pepper will make anything edible. :D

Its actually quite good. I just wanted to post this because some of the ladies and I were talking about my bachelorhood in the shoutbox yesterday, and I thought they'd get a kick out of me doing this.

The worst part was breaking the cold, rock hard Carnitas up. I didn't know if I should pre-heat it in the microwave, but that tends to dry it out. I then didn't want the broth/rice to get super hot, while the carnitas chunks were still cold. So I set it to a low simmer till it seemed hot.

if the carnitas are wrapped up with a waterproof seal, set the bag in a bowl of warm water for about an hour before you are ready to cook them. That will thaw them out enough to break apart with a fork into chunks to fit into the saucepan. Simmering was the right way to go too. If you have a steamer, cook the rice with the carnitas heating on top so they don't absorb and co-mingle the chicken with the pork flavors then have a bowl of soup and rice with the carnitas on the side.

Actually, I wanted them to co-mingle.

And you make things too difficult. Bachelor, remember? I only understood about half of what you were talking about.

would you like for me to send you some easy recipes?

No, thank you anyway. Besides, what's easier than pulling up and saying "Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger, and Chilli Cheese fries."

Without them, guys like me would starve.

I fully understand. I went shopping at the Walmart earlier tonight. I swear I must be invisible - people were running over me with their carts, blocking me up in the aisles - half an hour in there wore me out. Schwann's delivers to the house and they have some great items that are easy to prepare, very tasty, little less hard on the arteries, and not a whole lot more than going to the store.

I, the great and glorious TROLL KINGDOM, find your culinary skills wanting!

Whose? Mine, or eloisel?

Your pretty much stating the obvious if your talking about me. But, it is nice to have a stalker.

When I used to cook, I was an excellent cook. I've given it up but I wrote most of them down to teach the young padiwans how to follow in my footsteps.

Your experiment sounds like something my friends used to call "Saturday Soup." At the end of the week they'd take all the leftovers out of the 'fridge, put 'em in a cooking pot with some water, and make soup. Some of the combinations were surprisingly good, but others... not so much.

what the heck are Carnitas?

Traditional mexican dish similiar to meat for taco filling. Can be eaten alone or as tacos or burritos and usually made with pork or chicken.
