I had been content to stay in my self-imposed retirement, offering advise and guidance when requested, up until the point where they unjustifiably attacked someone whom I respect. That is something I will absolutely not stand for.
I'm not really leaving forever, so this isn't a real goodby. However, I am going back into retirement, so don't expect me to be posting much. For those of you who need to get in touch, you know how.

It is with this post, I bid my adieu to this BBS. However, probably not surprising to anyone, I have some parting words, which I'm sure will be attacked, ridiculed, and otherise ignored. However, the few smart ones here might take something of this, and try (futilely, I might add) to make some postitive changes.
When I first joined this site in Oct of 2004, It was with some trepidation. I had been a member of Slipstream BBS, and was familiar with its fate. I didn't participate in it, but, I lamented that your former site was unjustifiably killed before its time. I disagreed with all of the late permabans that were issued by its owner. I also disagreed with the posting of the mod room posts by those set out to cause harm. I had access to them before they were released, and knew what was said, however, I didn't feel the need to release them myself or say anything about it till now because, quite frankly, it wasn't my business. Although, I was hurt by some of the things said about me in there by one of the former mods, who is now a "tech admin/GUI Goddess/Whatever" at this site. It was your site, it wasn't my place to fuck it up when you didn't do anything to me, other than trash me behind the scenes.
I checked in a few times before I joined, and was alarmed by what I saw was an over-sensitivity about those events. Yeah, it sucked, but it seemed as though most of the people here were so mentally wounded by the closure that they couldn't think straight. But, whatever. Who was I to say?
So, for whatever reason, I joined. And was immediately attacked for my association to Trollkingdom. Bear in mind, at that point in history, I had all but disassociated myself from TK, due to my serious disagreement on which direction the owner/admins were taking the site. (Cait will back me up on this). Hell, I had been one of the victims (for lack of a better term) of the mod leak and subsequent closure, yet, you guys just took a liquid shit all over me, my opinions, and my basic existance. Maybe it was just how you treat all "newbies" here, I don't know. Suffice it to say, it was a major turn-off. But, again, whatever. I can deal with people not liking me. People's opinions of me at on-line message boards don't rank high with me, especally people who can't let by-gones be by-gones, and all that. So, I left.
And, I might add, was content to stay gone. That was, until, one of my friends (Darthsikle) posted something in this forum, and was unjustifiably attacked by everyone. And I mean everyone. Staff. Long-standing members. Everyone. Why? Because he was a TKer. That's it. He hadn't done anything else, other than have a tie to someplace that the majority of you didn't like. He wasn't involved in any of the prior nasty business between our two sites (if it even existed - fact of the matter, one of your own mods leaked out the threads, but again, whatever), and didn't even know any of the facts of the matter till some of us clued him in.
I know you guys don't know me, but there is one thing I will absolutely not tolerate: My friends being attacked without cause or reason. Darthsikle made a proposal (for whatever reason), and didn't do anything other than that. He was honest with his desire to make this a better place. Would it have passed? Hell fucking no. You guys have got your priorities so twisted around, that you would take any worthwile suggestion by any TKer, and attack, troll, and steer it off course so much that it would have absolutely no chance of survival. However, that didn't stop you from breaking your own policy and not letting a vote on the matter go. Not only that, but you let countless attacks on Darthsikle go without recourse. Hell, even staff members participated in the attacks, and nobody said boo about it. THAT is why I came back. Its your own insular attitudes that have brought on this four-months saga on this site, and nothing else.
If you had let the matter go forward, as it should, no harm would have come to this site. In fact, it would have made you guys look better - as it would have shown that you didn't give up your principles, despite your dislike of another group. We (Tom Saywer, Grand Theft Cow, Darthsike, and I) saw your reaction, and didn't like it.
But, we also saw how easy it was to troll you guys. With one simple proposal, you threw your own policy out the window, and when called on that, you cooked up new rules to make certian that we wouldn't make asses out of the staff here again. When called to the mat about letting the attacks go unpunished, you cooked up the excuse "well, too much time has gone past to do anything about it now" - despite the fact that you guys seem content to let things fester for weeks before doing anything about it. YOU, the staff, made this place a troll's paradise. And a paradise it will continue to be - I see no positive direction of change in any of the staff here that will cause these issues to go away anytime soon.
And the games began. We would do something perfectly within policy, and allow you guys to attack us. Then you would change policy to prohibit us from doing whatever we were doing. And the cycle would start again. At one point, I was wondering if you would ever catch on, but you never did. We did it countless times. Even going to the point of enacting permabans - something that you guys would have absolutely never have allowed or considered years, or even months, ago. That was icing on the cake for us. With that, the ultimate troll climax began.
We knew that we would be the first of many bans. You would cook up new rules to make sure it would happen. But, again, we were prepared for this eventuality. Right now, we have tens of duals amongst you, posting, and being normal. Hell, we've even particpated in the witch-hunt, to make ourselves look even more "normal." We have entreched ourselves so deeply in your community here, unless you go forth and permaban all buy a chosen few, you will never get rid of us. And maybe not even then.
But not me. I'm finished with you. I've made my point. My reason for being here, Darthsikle, is gone. What's more, you, as in pretty much everyone, has been exposed for what they are: Hypocrites. We have done nothing other than annoy certian people and staff. We've engaged in no illegal activitys, despite what a few chosen crazies like G1984 and Natolii think. The single thing we have done is expose your hypocrisy time and again. Yet, what do you do? Threaten to destroy our computers. Port scan us. Attempt to report us to the authorities. For nothing more then challenge your shallow thinking.
And yet, who do you guys cook up excuses for? Those of you who are doing the illegal activities. When the staff actually does the right thing (for once) and bans the the twerp for breaking a law, some of you (A(weasel-breath)Karas, szhismine) would be willing to think of any excuse to bring back someone who has broken the law to get back at us. That, my "friends", is not cool.
The admins are just lucky that the person who made the threat didn't do it to me. Because, if they did, I wouldn't have wasted my time making grand anouncements on the board, I would have just simply done it. Rov would have been sitting in class, and would have been served with a summons to appear in Los Angeles District Court with server records and the like. There's a reason why I don't expose myself online, and people like Shadowfire are why.
So, in closing, one last bit of advise from an old troll going back into retirement: You make your own bed. You guys have done a fine job fucking yours up, with turning your policy into swiss cheese in a pointless attempt to "deal" with us. You've attacked us without cause, and ignored that same policy to let those of us attack us go. Nothing here is going to change until you take a long, hard look at this community and see that we haven't done anything to you - you've done it all to yourselves.
