As The New Year Approaches ...

I've been bingeing the annual marathon on BBC America all week. They're up to Jodie now. Which means I get a break* until the New Year's Day ep.

*Mostly, but I'll watch an ep or two depending on the time of day. Her era was Chibnall's fault more than hers for sure...
 
I never watched the original series, and I only got hooked on the modern era version about 5 years ago.

I've formed lots of novice opinions in a short amount of time, lol.

Same here. Watched a few of the classics like Tom Baker's first encounter with Davros after getting into it though.

Saw bits and pieces of Eccelston's era, but once Tennant took the mantle I was hooked.

So the guy would die permanently if the clock went past a certain time, but then it goes by that time and he doesn't die permanently so I guess that was wrong?

So the guy intentionally booked in to use his storage unit every new year's even so that she could never go out and have fun, but it's meant to be sweet? Or she was just opened 24 hours a year, every year, even though she was the only employee and she only ever had one customer who would come in at the worst possible time every year?

I don't know I didn't pay attention.
 
After the expansive chaos of Flux, I was pleasantly surprised by the simple concept (TNG's Cause and Effect) and self-contained nature of this episode. It wasn't a chore to follow! And the plotholes (detailed above by Wacky) didn't bother me as much for some reason.

The Yaz/Doctor thing? Meh, whatever.
 
I kind of hope it ends with them about to kiss right as the Doctor regenerates, then the next Doctor is a man and Yaz pulls back disgusted.
 
Things to remember about dalek weapons, it will take them a few minutes to shoot through a thin metal roller door, but can blast through another dalek instantly.
