Burning divX.avi's to DVD

I have 2 ways currently, they're not optimum but I don't do it that often:

- Ashampoo Burning Studio
- DVDVideoSoft Free Studio

But mostly I just hook up my laptop to my flatscreen TV via an S-Vid out and play stuff in WMP playlists.

One of the best programs I found to go from AVI to DVD is called TMPGenc DVD Author with Divx Authoring.

It will take a movie from AVI format and turn it into a DVD file which can be burnt straight to disk. I never had even one disk fail me so far.

Simple suggestion as well to avoid having a ton of movies you may not want...burn to RW disks.

If you had gotten a PS3, instead of XBox 360, you could just put the files on a thumb drive, and play them directly on the machine. It's saved me hours and hours of burning shows to DVD, since the file transfer typically takes 2-3 minutes, instead of the 20-30 to burn a show to DVD.

What's a good program?

I'm running WinXPsp3 and I've got an optiarc ad-7170 DVDRW drive.
I use Xilisoft. It has good templates, let you customize the title screen background and music, friendly to AVI, WMV, MPEG etc. Simple but easy.

I liek convert x to dvd, I've had no problems, nice lil title templates etc
I think I'll try this one, too.

DVDVideoSoft Free Studio
I love this program. It does a little of everything.

Never happened.

I've found that the best way to burn a DVD is to start with a steel mallet to the back of Luci's head. Then just burn the DVD's.

Never happened.

Sure it does. Just d/l the avi file, drag-and-drop it onto a flash stick, and then watch the shows through the PS3. I do it all the time, can't remember the last time I actually burned anything to DVD. In fact, the only reason I'll even have a DVD burner in my next machine is to burn home videos for my technologically impaired parents.

No DUH? My question is, WHY BOTHER? You do not have a fucking DVD player? You can play any AVI file on your computer, can you not? If so, WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU BOTHER TO TRANSFER IT ONTO A FUCKING STICK, CONNECT THE FUCKING STICK TO YOUR PS3, THEN WATCH IT ON YOUR TELEVISION? WTF? Why would you even need to do this if you have DVD movies? Just stick the fucking DVD into your PS3, and you are ready to rock. Egads, you Americans are fucking retards.
