Captain Sky and the world of Tomorow

I think it was "skycaptain"...

And to be honest, while I enjoyed the visuals, I absolutely hated the rest of the movie, and even the visuals died off pretty quickly after the "Shangra-La" scenes.

The acting, and far more importantly, the WRITING was absolutely terrible. It wasn't "high camp", it was just poorly done.

I wanted to like it, but couldn't.

I try not to judge too much. I appreciated it for what it was - nothing more than a serial-type adventure that one would've seen in the early 20th century. It was like pulp novels mixed with classic Fleischer animation.

Working solely against green screen IS very limiting, and a bit awkward in places. (See: Star Wars I-III) But, I liked what they did with it, not what it could have/should have/ would have been.

Could it have been better? Sure it could have been! Such is life. *shrugs*

I enjoyed the artistic direction, the characters, the techonology, etc. Oh, and the "flapping" wings of the robo-planes was pretty cool!

I would sit in a theatre for a sequel. (At matinee prices, of course. ;) )

Whenever I watch it I can't get past the really sissy character that Jude Law played in "Closer".
