CellPhone Thieves

We are getting warnings from local law enforcement that now that the Holiday season is afoot, so are thefts and robberies. One theft in particular is aimed at cellphones.

People that use public transit are especially vulnerable. The alledged thief on board the train will wait for it to reach its stop, then will snatch the cellphone from his victims hand and jump off right as the train doors close.

My question is..

WHY THE FUCK WOULD SOMEONE BE SO STUPID AS TO STEAL A CELLPHONE FOR ANYWAYS!!

All they have to do is make one single call, and BAM, they are caught! The police will go directly to the service provider and get a copy of the victims phone records, go to the owners of every call that was dialed from that phone, then interrogate them trying to find out who is calling them from it.

Form there, the rest is history.

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid some criminals are!! :smfangry:

Nah they call those phones 'burners'. Prepaids - 20 or 30 buck 300 min. Use, toss in the trash.

I bought one so I could give out my phone number to the members of my now defunct former forum. Not one of those fuckers ever called to say hello. Oh well. Thirty bucks. No big deal.

Also sometimes the police will not put a high priority on stolen cell phones. They often have/think they have more important things to do.
