London, June 02 : Producer and deputy chairman of Channel 4 Lord Puttam is not proud of his station’s hit reality television show ‘Big Brother’.
The 66-year-old admitted that he was neither proud of the clash between housemates Indian actress Shilpa Shetty and Jade Goody, nor the show itself.
"I am not proud of the Big Brother row - I am not even proud of Big Brother,” the Daily Express quoted Puttam, as saying.
The former Hollywood filmmaker hoped that the channel finds a replacement for the big earning show.
"But Big Brother accounts for 15 percent of the total revenue that keeps Channel 4 afloat and you have got to go some to replace that,” he said.
Puttan revealed that the channel does plan to shut the show.
"We will do it at some point, of course we will. We are in a long period of transition but we will do it,” he said.
Music legend Sir Paul McCartney also panned the show calling it a ‘celebration of mediocrity’.
The former Beatle revealed that he ‘avoids’ watching the show.
"I studiously avoid Big Brother, I avoid it," McCartney said.

And replace it with what? More pseudo-intellectual arthouse cinema?
It's annoying how people try to come off as intellectually superior and above the "rabble" just because they don't watch Big Brother.
I'm pretty sure I'm able to make my own decisions as to what I watch and do. I don't need to be protected from the mindless drivel if I am aware that it is mindless drivel and still don't care.
Yet every year everyone who's not watching makes everyone else know that they're not watching.
Fuck 'em both.
