Looking at this art reminds me of the art of ancient Egyptians. Considering these similarities, coupled with a prevalance/preference for pyramid-building, I fully believe there is a common link, somewhere, between the Maya and ancient Egypt.

What are your thoughts?

As an Archaeologist, I do have to say that all these finds make me happy. We don't know much about Mayan Kings and such, save a few. This will be another great thing to study and learn more about.
