Dark Shadows

NaughtE

Marry me, $M Gayboy!
Hmm...
Well, ...
Okay, ...
Yeah...
Maybe it was too soon for me to see it after the ever so awesome Avengers.

I don't think it was awful or even bad. In fact, much of it would get high marks - production values, music, scenery, casting, star power, etc. Absolutely loved the Collins mansion. While I don't remember all the details and storylines, this movie definitely does remind me of the old daily soap opera. However, the story was pretty much given away in the trailers and just not fresh. As much as I love Johnny Depp, he is yet again in an over the top costume, also just not fresh.

I did like the little sightings of original cast members. I glimpsed David Selby but missed Jonathan Frid. I would have liked Quentin Collins in this movie, too, as he was, as I recall, a favorite character.

Mostly, though, I think that after having seen such a high adventure/action film with lots of exciting moments, Dark Shadows seemed to drag. I'll see it again in the future, on a gloomy, rainy day, when there isn't much else to do.

Weird! I saw Jonathan Frid, but missed David Selby. I could have sworn they used one of Lara Parker's likeness in one of " Angie's" Portraits. What I didn't think was too cool, was the way he just drained people dry, when he needed to and that the family not only knew, but approved. In the soap, that was his anguish. But, other than that, it was very well done. They just used up all the jokes in the trailer. The actual movie wasn't that funny. They're doing a lot of that now. You think you're going to a comedy, and it isn't.

You wouldn't have seen Frid, he was sick during the filming and died last month.

Yeah, I'd heard he had died, which is probably why I wasn't expecting to see him, but his name was in the credits. I'm surprised I saw David Selby as, since Quentin wasn't in this telling of the story, I didn't expect to see him at all.

It better be in the credits :D thats the only way the estate (i.e. his family, kids, widow, etc) get paid. It's a sick world, but TG he gets credit for his work.

He was awesome in the series. So was that blonde actress..
