Do the simpsons even try and maintain canon now?

1st and foremost theres the "lets forget about Maggie and just have two kids" episodes we seem to get a lot lately.

But what gets my goat about tonights episode, where they show a documentry film maker who has recorded the lives of springfield children every 7 years, is that Homer and Marge were meant to have met for the first time in high school, then it was retconed to summer camp, now they are trying to say they were in the same primary school.

Only funny bit in the episode was time travelling young Carl showing up in black and white, and that was more clever than laugh out loud.

I stopped watching the Simpsons a few years ago. Hasn't there been a lot of episodes without Maggie over the years?

Loads, including episodes where Bart and Lisa go on adventures with Grandpa while their parents are away, meaning noone is looking after Maggie, which is why she isnt even mentioned.

Um, it's a surreal cartoon comedy. I think they do episodes like that so they can laugh at people who actually complain that they're "not following canon."

Yeah, that episode was quite a stinker. The end in particular. It was like "hmm, we have two minutes to fill, let's have Homer singing in an unfunny way!"

Well, Homer is borderline retarded with that crayon up his nose, so it could be that he and Marge did meet all those times but he doesn't remember them, and Marge acts like she doesn't either so she won't hurt his feelings.

And I think they will eventually reveal that Maggie was a figment of their imaginations, a by-product of the traumtic stress brought on by the death of Snowball.

Also, Moe will be revealed to be actress Elizabeth Ashley hiding from reporters for decades for reasons only known to her.

Oh, the crayon up the nose thing was another contradiction: it was previously revealed that Homer (and Bart) was dumb because of the "Simpson gene".

HE'S JUST DUMB. SO'S HIS OLD MAN.

His Mom was kind of smart, so that follows the "Simpsons gene" theory since she was only a Simpson by marriage.

ANYWAY THE CRAZY GUY WASNT REALLY MICHAEL JACKSON HE WAS JERMAINE STEWART PRETENDING TO BE DIANA ROSS.

It only effects the males in the family, which is why Lisa was okay.

ALSO, APU'S BABIES WERE CONCEIVED, BORN, AND AGED WITHIN ONE EPISODE BUT MAGGIE DIDN'T AGE

They had that episode where they met at summer camp, where marge had brown straight hair and homer had an eyepatch.

They mentioned Lord Waffles in the new one tonight, proving there's a Fox writer posting @ TK!

I prefer "dead all along" to "in a coma all along" because at least with "dead all along" you get a chance to start a discussion about Jacob's Ladder, which was a pretty great movie.

The real Lady Gaga isn't real. Every celebrity who became famous & did a cameo since the coma is actually an actor employed by the show.

Maybe the actress who plays Lady Gaga is in a contract negotiation, so she may "retire" soon...

When a pop artist starts reaching out to Tony Bennett for duets, they know they've done everything else they can think of.
