Doctor Who fans to lose their shit again (season 14)

At first I thought WTF - Eric from Sex Ed? But the more I mull it over, the more I like it. He does serious and humorous well and could bring a darker tone if need be considering some of the material he's tackled in Sex Ed.

There still are Doctor Who fans?

BBC: "Eeeeeheeeheeheeheeeee! Thith ith tho gonna pith off the fanth!"
Former fans: "Yeh, naw, mate. We already fucked off, innit."

Doctor Who fans didn't blame Jodie Whittaker for the show sinking. They correctly blamed the writing.

It's the non-fans who stir more online shit about any kind of non-traditional casting, because it's all they know how to do.

Yep. A female doctor could have been done well. Maybe could even have been done well by Jodie Whittaker, if she hadn't been trying so hard to do a David Tennant impersonation. But... not with Chibnall as showrunner, and not with the writing she had to work with.

One of the cardinal sins of writing is to try to enslave good storytelling to The Message. When you put good storytelling first, and let the reader or viewer find the moral in it for themselves, that's both good storytelling and good moralizing. Just straight up preaching at your readers or viewers only succeeds in alienating them.

...could bring a darker tone...
That's racist. ;) Oh and:

Recasting Rose, or is it a new character named Rose? Hmm... I just watched Heartstoppers this weekend on Netflix. A sweet gay coming of age show. She was good.

“How Can There Be Another Rose?”: Former ‘Doctor Who’ Companion Set For Return; ‘Heartstoppers’ Yasmin Finney Cast In Major Role

Netflix’s Heartstoppers breakout Yasmin Finney is to play Rose in the next Doctor Who as the show continues to drip-feed cast for Russell T Davies’ 14th season.

“How can there be another Rose?,” said Davies, teasing a reference to the same character played by Billie Piper from 2005 to 2010 when Davies was first at the helm, when she starred opposite Christoper Eccleston and then David Tennant.

No more information on the return of Rose was forthcoming but scenes are being filmed shortly to air next year.

Finney’s Heartstoppers breakout dropped on Netflix recently and has been acclaimed for its sophisticated portrayal of young, LGBTQ+ issues. Finney, who plays Elle Argent in Heartsstoppers, will be one of the first transgender actors to appear in Doctor Who.

Her announcement comes a day after Tennant and Catherine Tate were revealed to be returning for series 14, with scenes that will air in 2023, and a week after Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa was unveiled as the 14th Doctor.

“If anyone would have told eight-year-old Yasmin that one day she’d be part of this iconic show, I would have never in a million years believed them,” said Finney. “This show has a place in so many people’s hearts, so to be seen as a trans actress by the legend himself Russell, has not only made my year, it’s made my life.”

Davies said he had “fallen in love” with Finney after seeing her in Heartstoppers, which he described as “one of those shows which changes the world.”

So someone apparently posted a week before the news broke that Tennant and Tate were returning. Which means the other spoilers they've posted could be correct. So, warning, POTENTIAL SPOILERS Y'ALL:

"Rose" is...

Donna's duaghter.
