Drat, Drat, and Drat

It is pouring down rain right now and snow will hit the area by noon. I had plans for a get together with friends an hour east of here - where it will be worse than here. It is too big a mess to go with plan 2 about 10 minutes west of here.

Going to have to settle with plan 3 - stay at home and cook, clean house, watch TV, play on the computer, play musical instruments, read, work on my writing, exercise, and sleep.

First - put stew makings in the crockpot. Then, start laundry. Then, go snuggle deep down under the covers. Winter really is for someone other than me.

Laundry done. Stew almost done. Nap had. Snow all over the place. Glad I went to the grocery store at two a.m. today.

I think having four seasons (or at least three) is a good thing. Makes you appreciate the two "moderate" seasons if you freeze or roast.

I've always been a "fall" kinda guy myself.

I lived out in the Mesa/Tempe area for a few years back in the mid to late 80s. It was a nice day trip up to Payson to make snow angels and have hot cocoa then drive back to the Phoenix area where it was 110. Flagstaff gets snow fairly often too. Was snowing the one time I visited the place.

Lived out in Glendale, CA for just under two years in the 80s also. There were quite a few beautiful weather days but I didn't care for the fires, earthquakes, stereotypes, and high cost of living.

Lived out in Mobile, Alabama back in the late 70s. Hot. Sticky. Hot. Flood every day at 4:30. And, the rats were as big as otters! And, they have a huge variety of bugs. And, the KKK burned a cross on the beach across from our apartment complex the first night we were there.

I liked Denver but it would be a beautiful day when I went to work in the morning and there'd be 4 feet of snow on the ground when I got off work in the afternoon.

If I could find a place that stayed between 40 and 80 most of the year with an occasional hot spell of about 95 and an occasional cold spell with a little bit of snow that was all gone the next day, I'd move there in a minute.

I'm a spring and fall kind of person who likes to visit snow.

I'm with you on that. I got married in the fall, so that's always evocative, and in Vermont we have four real discrete seasons mostly. very nice.

Consumer: Try Missouri south of St. Louis and you'll be just about right.
Plans are in works with the travel buddies to do some driving and walking tours in the Ozark Mountains - one of these years.
