Music is just applied mathematics in rhythm. Eventually, everything gets copied.

I don't see it. Neither of them invented that groove. The most distinguishing part of Eddy's song is the "DOO DOO DOO DOO DOODOO DOO DOO" vocal, which isn't in the Gorillaz song. And Eddy's song stays on one chord the whole time, while Gorillaz bothered to add some changes and a bridge here and there.
