Elderly man drives with body in windshield

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (AP) -- A 93-year-old driver apparently suffering from dementia fatally struck a pedestrian and drove for three miles with the man's body through his windshield, police said.

Ralph Parker was stopped after he drove through a tollbooth on the Sunshine Skyway, Traffic Homicide Investigator Michael Jockers said. The toll taker called police, he said.

Parker was not likely to face charges because he did not appear to know what happened or where he was, said Bruce Bartlett, chief assistant in the Pinellas-Pasco County State Attorney's Office.

"He may have somewhere in his mind have realized it was a crash, but immediately forgot about it," Jockers said.
The victim's leg was severed in the Wednesday night crash, police said. The man, whose name was not released, was 52.

Parker had renewed his license in 2003.

"That was the one thing he had, to get in his car and just drive for the sheer enjoyment of driving," Jockers said. Parker lived alone after his wife died in 1998, authorities said.

I'm sorry that's it. Enough's enough. We have to set a maximum age limit for driving. I say 75. We also have to have mandatory physical examinations every single year after age 65, in order to renew one's license.

No charges will be filed?? WTF?? He fucking killed a man, severed his leg so the guy probably screamed his head off a bled out, and he didn't even realize he had hit someone. How is this any different from an alcoholic who blacks out and kills someone??

Funny thing about the U.S. There is a two week waiting period and background checks for guns, and you need a pulse to be eligible for a drivers license.

The ratio of auto accident deaths to gun deaths is something like 20:1 because its every Americans God given right to drive like a fucking idiot. We don't want to take away that right, do we?

Something smells fishy: this 93 year old dude was at some point was able to sneak up on a pedestrian and then strike him hard enough and squarely enough to cause him to go through the windsheild. I mean no disrespect when I say that if your motor skills are so god awful as to allow a 93 year old man to plow over you, well.

Note no age or ID of the victim. Smells like a hoax.

Otherwise BDM your right about the age cutoff limit for driving. It should fucking be 75.
