I just want to say - I know he's an ass in a lot of ways, and there are many reasons to hate him, but as a lyricist myself this has got to be not only one of the best songs (lyrically) I know but it's very real - a true look into the heart of a very confused, angry and human individual. Kudos to him for writing it, no matter what else he's done.

Ah, this is the one time where the two of us have a different approach to music then.
See, imo, while Eminem (masterfully) just copies the art using the style and technique created and developed by his predecessors (Grandmaster Flash, Sugar Hill Gang, Run DMC, Public Enemy, to name but a few), Beastie Boys took that heritage, went that small step further and implemented their own cultural background into it to create something unique and new, something that isn't just "black rap" done by a white boy, but truly "white rap" ... ;)
 
Perhaps you’re right, to an extent. This is why I said the Beasties are better musicians. (The fact that they combine punk and other musical forms with traditional hip-hop also contributes to this.) However, most of their white rap usually consists of single rhymes, whereas Slim Shadey’s black rap is more lyrically complex (sorry if this sounds racist, but these are your terms), which is why I consider him the better rapper ;)
 
While Eminem is obviously very talented this whole idea that he is in some untouchable bracket of white rappers is total bullshit.

There are loads of underground white rappers that can step to Eminem toe to toe
