I love Netflix and Hulu Plus. Got rid of satellite TV and stream those two to my rokus. Awesome decision. I miss a few things but not enough to make paying the high pay TV prices again to have 100s of channels to change and not much to watch.
The first Expendables I went to thinking I was going to the Helen Mirren movie "Red," which was excellent while The Expendables was not. The first Expendables was just a couple of hours of drooling Rourke and the gang blowing everything up and killing everybody in sight.
Fact - drooling Rourke wasn't in this one. Fact - it was Liam not Chris Hemsworth. Still okay. Liam is cutie pie too.
However, as bad as the first one was, Expendables 2 is awesome. Yes - it is still the formula of kill everybody and blow everything up. And, yes, the old guys - Stallone, Arnold, Willis, Chuck - are full of their schtick. Viewers who haven't seen those guys in their old action films won't get a lot of the jokes. But, I had a good time. Whoever wrote this thing did a fine job using those classic lines and had a little fun. There was actually more storyline to this one too. Granted, it was to give Jason Stratham reason to show off his awesomeness, but that is okay.
The Expendables 3 will be out next year. Hope it follows in this same vein - not taking itself too seriously.
