Fallout 3

Marquis De Sade

I came for the spankings
I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, the fighting engine is masterfully done, something not very common among RPG's. It can be played as a full on First Person Shooter, but it also has turn-based fighting system with nice angles and slow-motion effects emphasizing on the dismembered bodies of the enemies (head explosions are especially entertaining).

However, in the larger sense, there seems to be something lost in translation between (The Elder Scrolls 4) Oblivion's medieval fantasy setting and Fallout 3's post apocalyptic setting.

I agree with 8/10.

The VATS targeting system is a lot of fun. There is something endlessly entertaining about queuing up shots and watching the bloody mess unfold.

The Wastelands is really expansive and large and the game runs well and the art is all top notch.

I would say that the straight FPS mode is nowhere near as responsive and smooth as your usual FPS though. And it's also disappointing that you have to write off Third Person Mode because it sucks and it looks like everyone is skating across rubble.

But my major gripe with the game is that it is very light on quests and 90% of the game is shooting things while interacting with NPC's seems to be massively scaled back. As a result it can be hard to give a shit about anything that's happening around you later in the game.

With all that said it is still pretty damn fun and definitely not the worst way to waste 30 something hours if you're going to play a game.

I seriously doubt I will be playing it again after I beat it though.

So yeah...8/10
