Y'see, I need new material. I've gone down imdb's top comedies, and most of them suck.

I really want some good laugh-out-loud hilarity. Something as funny as History of the World pt1 maybe.

I noticed you're a Harold Ramis fan. He's been writing top-grossing comedy movies for years. His list includes, Animal House, Meatballs, Caddyshack, Stripes, Ghost Busters, Groundhog Day, Bedazzled, and Analyze That.

All of those I've seen (with the exception of meatballs), btw.

I've also gone down by writer/director and tried watching all of Mel Brooks' stuff, too. Yes, I've already gone after Terry Gilliam's work as well.

Other comedy writers to note are Jay Chandrasekhar, Seth Rogen, Judd Apatow, and Simon Pegg.

Well, it depends on what kind of comedy you want. Laugh out loud until you can't breathe funny? Or screwball comedy which entertains.

I love the old black & white comedies, such as Bringing up Baby, The Philadelphia Story, His Gal Friday...the writing is so sharp and so fast, it's hard to keep up.

Or, maybe you should go the MST3K route; not funny movies, but listening to them make fun of them IS hysterical.

A friend and I saw Pineapple Express, and we laughed our assess off. Guess that's what I was in the mood for. I loved Knocked Up when it first came out, but watching it again, I can't get past Katherine Heigl's character. What a bitch. Gods, I hope I'm never like that with a man, especially when I'm pregnant.

You may have to go by actors you find funny, and then IMDB their movies. How about Will Ferrell? Elf sucked, but Talladega Nights and Blades of Glory are great. I don't much care for Adam Sandler films...I don't find them funny at all. And I'm one of the few who didn't like There's Something about Mary.

Hot Fuzz was one of the best movies; especially if you got the references to which movies they were making fun of. Well, not making fun of, but paroding.

Good suggestions. I'll have to look further into those.

As far as your black and whites go, Jimmy Stewart in Harvey was awesome.

I've also gone down the entire Marx Brothers list, along with a whole lot of Abbot and Costello.

I'm not really in the mood for MST3K, but if you give me some good recomends, I'll watch those.

Researching the actors list is where I started. I ended up chasing writers.

I've seen or own most of Will Ferrell's stuff. Adam Sandler is a great actor to follow, and I've seen most of his work. Though, most of it is admittedly slapstick. Yeah, Something About Mary blew. Ben Stiller is a completely hit-or-miss kind of actor/writer/director. Don't even get me started on Meet the Parents/Faukers... Zoolander was terrific. Owen Wilson is a surprisingly good writer. If you haven't seen them, go watch Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, and The Royal Tenenbaums. A good related title is Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.

Simon Pegg (who I mentioned earlier) wrote and starred in Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. I haven't seen Run Fat Boy Run yet. Anyone seen it?

I'm just running dry on good comedies.

By the way, if any of you mentions the movie Amelie, I'll not only ignore your suggestion but I'll make it well-known you're a french-loving fruitcake.

LoL...never even seen Amelie.
I've seen Rushmore & The Royal Tenenbaums...loved 'em. I just couldn't get into The Life Aquatic.

Speaking of Jason Schwartzman, I also liked I Heart Huckabees, although I believe I'm about the only one. Mark Wahlberg cracks me up in theat film. Hitchiker's Guide is good, but only because of Mos Def and Sam Rockwell.

Hmmm...MST3K recommends. Well, gotta go with Manos: The Hands of Fate. That's an essential. Also, any of the Hercules. Space Mutiny is awesome, even if it is a Mike, and the same with Prince of Space.

I'm sorry you're going through a dry run in comedy. I'm going through the exact same thing with horror. I think I've seen EVERY SINGLE ONE EVER MADE!!!!

Yeah, good luck with the horror thing. I just recently watched the Return of the Living Dead series. Though, I'd call that more of a comedy series than horror.

Mainly because Return of the Living Dead 1 has an amputee midget zombie. My friends and I were watching it and must've re-watched that particular moment at least 20 times in a row and never got tired of it.

You want an amputee midget? Might I suggest the movie Freaks. The black guy has no arms or legs but he still manages to ROLL A FUCKING CIGARRETTE.

You have to see it to believe it.

Here ya go, my love:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0022913/

It's a fantastic movie, and everyone in that movie plays themselves. Like Archibald Nixon said, no special effects. Real pinheads and dwarves and "torsos" walked around that set, and it freaked (heh) people out.

DON'T FUCK WITH THE LITTLE PEOPLE

I think it was the dude with no body from the ribcage down, running around on his hands as quick & nimble as any two-legged person, that freaked me straight the fuck out the most.
