Game Of Thrones 5.4 'Sons of the Harpy'

Littlefinger's Insane Plan Update: He now says he knows Stannis is going to attack Winterfell soon. So he's leaving Sansa in a place where he knows a major battle is about to be fought. WOW, GREAT PLAN, PETYR. I'M SURE THAT WON'T PUT HER IN DANGER AT ALL. Oh and last week he told Sansa not to worry about the Lannisters sending someone to arrest her because Tywin's dead and he's not scared of the Lannisters anymore and this week he's...running back to King's Landing because he's scared of the Lannisters. Okay.

That feather Sansa found in the tomb was put there by Robert in the very first episode so that was nice.

The scene with Stannis and Shireen was good.

Introduction of the Sand Snakes was...I'll reserve judgement until they do more.

The stuff with the Faith Militant seemed a bit rushed? And them smiling crazily as they killed people didn't seem to fit with Jonathan Pryce's more level-headed High Sparrow.

Barristan dying is probably the biggest change in terms of characters dying who aren't dead in the books. There was Jojen but he hasn't really done anything past the point where he died in the show, whereas Barristan has a pretty big part and is a point of view character in the next book in a pretty big event. So maybe none of that stuff will even happen in the show. It's a shame we didn't get to see him fight more often.

Is he definitely dead? Greyworm was quite badly injured too, but I'm sure he'll be back next week.

Littlefinger's plan is so hard to follow I'm surprised he didn't throw a bunch of clones into the mix.

Maybe I've missed a lot but the religious sects have been introduced quite abruptly so it's a little hard to take in their plots. Until this season I never felt this was a particularly God fearing world, aside from obvious examples like the Red Woman, who stands out by how much more pious she appears than anyone around her. I get that previous the religious leaders had lapsed somewhat, but it feels like the whole subject has come out of nowhere.

Good Jaime fight scene. I thought he'd punch the guy with his metal hand. What actually took place was much better.

I took the ending to mean that Barristan was dead and Grey Worm alive but badly injured. But who knows, they could both be alive or both dead...

The Faith Militant is a historical thing that was outlawed hundreds of years ago. They go into the background a lot more in the books (but of course that's true of most plot points.)

I am starting to lose interest in the tv show because IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. All the Sansa and Littlefinger stuff is bad... I'm not one to complain much when a tv show doesn't follow the books closely, because a book has all the time in the world to explore reasons behind things, but I don't like it when the changes aren't sensible. There's no sensible reason for Littlefinger to leave Sansa in so much danger. I know in the book it wasn't Sansa at all at Winterfell but her friend (was her name Jayne or something) and are they going to do the thing with Theon with Sansa instead of her friend? Sansa will recognize Theon.

The Sand Snakes bit seemed like bad acting.

Jayne Poole, yeah. She was trained by Littlefinger to play the part of Arya (I'm 100% certain this isn't going to happen in the show now so I think it's fine to talk about it?)

The part with the Sand Snakes introducing themselves and what weapons they use was like a scene in a comic where members of a super hero team say their own names and state their super powers.

"I'm Obara and I have the power of SPEAR!"
"None can escape the deadly whip of Nym!"
"And I'm...the other one. With the pixie haircut."
