Game of thrones 5.9 'The Dance of Dragons'

CaptainWacky

I want to smell dark matter
Jon returns to the wall. Arya runs into someone from her past. Mace visits the Iron Bank. Stannis faces a difficult decision. Daenerys oversees a celebration of athleticism.

Something usually happens in episode nine.

WTF? I knew they were going to kill Shireen, the fuckers. :rwmad:

The dragon stuff at the end looked terrible. I guess they blew the budget last week.

I liked everything Drogon did but it was a bit silly that Dany seems to only have about twelve Unsullied now. And why were the Harpies killing people like Hizdhar when he's part of the powerful families they want to return to power?

Is the Dorne stuff over now? It was all a bit...pointless? They should have used it to explore how Jamie feels about Myrcella. They kind of had some parts where it looked like they would but they didn't? They could have just sent Doran a nice letter and he would have sent Myrcella home.

SO apparently the producers said something like "when George told us about..." what happens to Shireen so people are saying it's a SPOILER for the next book, but I don't know. In the books Shireen is back at the Wall (with Mel uh oh) and Stannis is at Winterfell and possibly dead (not a spoiler since the show is different okay.) So I don't see how he can burn her unless he goes back to the Wall eventually and burns her for some other reason. I guess we'll find out if we EVER GET TO READ IT. The scene was pretty disturbing!

Shireen's death was awful, but I'm not sure why people are surprised. Stannis does everything he's told, so it seemed inevitable. Really good death acting tho!

And I did really like all the dragon stuff, but it seemed a bit callous of Dany to leave them all behind. I know she was the main target of the attack, but as Wacky says, the Harpies were killing indescriminately, and there don't seem to be any of the useless Unsullied left to protect Tyrion and co.

I liked how much Tyrion's opinions ran in line with Dany's, btw. They would make a good, if slightly odd couple.

There's nothing stopping Tyrion and Dany getting married now, really (well except for her fucking off on a dragon.)
