I can't agree with that.
It had some funny scenes, and the mutations were interesting, but no.
The first Gremlins is on my list of top five flicks, and my FAVORITE CHRISTMAS MOVIE of all time.

I still struggle for a 3rd Christmas movie. "Die Hard" and "Lethal Weapon" are easy and obvious. But #3 is hard. "Gremlins"? "Batman Returns"? "Trading Places"? "A Nightmare Before Christmas"? It's hard to top Bruce Willis jumping off an exploding building to Beethoven's 9th. Or Mel Gibson headbutting a drug dealer on a Christmas tree lot after a topless coked up whore takes a swan dive off a balcony while "Jingle Bell Rock" plays.
