Help with computer

Elitist Redheaded Trollop
Okay...apparently my mouse has taken on a life of its own. I have a laptop, and since yesterday, anytime I run my mouse over a link or something that can be clicked on, it fucking clicks it without me doing anything!!

It's possessed! I've tried rebooting, I've even shut off the mouse then turned it back on.

Any advice?

There are programs that you can download that allow you to do just that. I am not familiar with a setting in the control panel for mice that will has a similar setting...but then again, I do not know what computer you have or what kind of mouse you have.

I would check under Windows Control Panel for mouse and then I would check any brand software where you can change your mouse settings that was installed.

It's an HP pavilion, and mouse is a regular laptop mouse in the computer.

Thanks for the advice. I'll see what I can do with the control panel. :)

Sounds like you either have a funk setting, or your touch pad mouse is screwy. Do you have the touch pad and the little stick in the middle of the keyboard? If you have both, you may want to use the little stick and see if it is a setting or if the touch pad is now crap.

All of my laptops have had funny touchpad behavior at times. It's a well known and documented problem with the touch pads. Usually, I do a restart and then it works fine again. I've read articles that recommend a reinstall of the mouse driver to help with this. I will try to find the links and post them for you.

Find out whether your touchpad is made by Synaptics (most of them are). If yes, try upgrading the Synaptics touchpad driver to a newer one available here:

(Note: only do this if and only if you have confirmed that your touchpad is indeed made by Synaptics. Installing the wrong driver may make the problem worse.)
