House of the Dragon season 2

My favourite show of last year, and that was from someone who was left cold on the Game of Thrones universe (like so many) after they badly fumbled the ending. I thought House of Dragon was excellent. looking forward to this quite a bit.

As I said in December, I loved the first season, and this is my most highly anticipated show of the year.

REMEMBER, first episode is tomorrow (Monday) or I guess tonight (Sunday) if you have HBO but it's tomorrow REALLY.

Well, wow.

I watched a YT clip re: how the notorious 'Blood and Cheese' played out in the books. I think it's safe to say that some of the omissions were warranted.

In the book, Blood rapes the little girl out of boredom, apparently.

Some comments were "oh OG HBO would have shown us everything including the decap." - Like come on, really? "But stabby stabby preggers lady in The Red Wedding!" - an adult (even a pregnant one) being stabbed in the stomach, while appalling, is still a tier or two below watching a little kid having his head sawn off. Imagine signing your kid up to that scene!

Solid start, I thought.

GRRM never saw a child murder scene he didn't think could be improved with a bit of rape.

It was good but felt like it just got going when it ended. And there's only 8 episodes this season.

I'm glad they decided to leave the rape out instead of raping someone else just to keep the rape!

Pretty good start to the season.

Another good episode, I THOUGHT, and felt like a more satisfying length.

The poor dog! First it gets kicked, now its master is hung just because he's a ratcatcher (who also happened to have murdered a child.)

Criston Cole is such a cocknose, I hope he dies really horribly (no spoilers.) The wacky twin fight was fun. I was waiting for him to say "shoot us both, Rhaenyra!"

They probably should have mentioned that Alicent has a third son who's in Oldtown before now...

Isn't Criston the father of Rhaenyra's children? I can't remember, but I think he is. WHY doesn't he want his son to be king? lol

The twin fight was good. I hope Mysaria comes back.

He is not. She slept with Cole once when she was like 16 then dumped him and he never got over it. Harwin Strong is the father of her older children, though she claims it's her first husband Laenor who is the father (but he's black and gay so pretty obviously not their dad.) She has younger children with Daemon.

Rhaenyra being able to sneak into King's Landing was probably a bit silly, but it was a great scene and we probably won't get Olivia Cooke and Emma D'Arcy acting together much more (if ever?) so I'll allow it!

It was good to see Milly Alcock again for a second! And random Scottish woman telling Daemon he's going to die.

Aegon made his drunken frat boy friends into the new Kingsguard lol.

Blowjob lol.

I feel like they're expanding the world a bit more this season with scenes like the supposed Targaryen drinking with his mates. Because in season one it was mostly the royals all the time.

I was looking at comments on the ASOIAF board I visit and I don't fucking know what some of those people actually want. Like I get finding the ending scene stupid (and I agree that Rhaenyra managing to get away again is hard to buy!) but they were also hugely commplaining that we didn't get to see the battle from the opening scene. Why the fuck would the show feature a battle which involves NONE of our lead characters? What would showing it accomplish? It would just be people we don't know killing each other for ten minutes and a waste of money they could spend on more dragons. The way it was one in the episode was perfect: we get everything we need to see. Feuding families on either side of the conflict killed each other pointlessly over some land. We don't need it to be an extended setpiece.
