House Sitting Hilarity

Mirah

I love you
I think I figured out a solution for my oven space shortage on Thanksgiving! I will be house sitting just 6 miles away over Thanksgiving weekend. I can use their oven to cook the turkey and just check on it every 40 minutes or so! That way I can cook the vegetable dishes at my house, no problem!

Designate an Assistant Baster if you can -- the more often it gets basted, the juicier it will be. Every 20 minutes is good.

Maybe even drop someone off there when you pop it in, and they can stay and baste, lol.

Yes, that would be ideal! I was hoping a family member would arrive early.

I don't think I am reeaaallly going to use both houses......but it has crossed my mind..... : D This is my first time preparing Thanksgiving dinner. It is fun so far, I like it. I have been wanting to do this for a long time, just haven't had the space to do it.

I have experience as a baster.

I DO!

When my niece was still in high school, my sister's whole family would go to a holiday football game on Thanksgiving morning, and I stayed behind to sleep in, and baste the turkey every 20-30 minutes.

That bird was so moist and juicy they wrote a rap song about it.

We're doing ours in a bag for the first time. One of the son-in-laws is a restaurant chef in Burlington and swears by it.

Reynolds Oven Bags

So......the whole bag thing....isn't that like heating something up in plastic in the microwave oven?!?!??! Aren't plastics dangerous! I should just pump my turkey full of lead and serve it on a plate of moss or cow dung.

Well the joke is on me!

The turkey was great yesterday! I highly recommend farm fresh, organic turkey. Soooo good. Expensive! But good! I used fresh rosemarry, thyme and sage. And then I used a hawaiin sea salt and butter on the skin etc etc and stuffed it full of celery, onion and apple and some carrots.

Yum yum yum

The funny part is:
Today, while feeding the cute little kitties and dog at the house sitting house-I locked myself out. Yep!

Locked out.

Went over there in jogging pants and a shirt, no bra.

It is pouring down rain.

FUcking raining! LOL

So I sat for a while under the eaves near their work shed area, and kept myself warm for the blanket (electric) used for the cats. (they also had a plug in)

Finally I went over to the neighbors and asked to use their phone.

Lucky I work for a shop that uses a locksmith, so I was able to get in after only a couple hours (I assume) LOL

Holy Fuck!!!!

That is why I have a rule! If I ever go outside, for any reason-I always make sure I have the keys and or at least a cell phone.

Fuck!!! ha ha
