fuck me RAW Henny!
Since the membership has no idea of what really went on, aside from the spin that's been given about it, and the efforts to trash Borgs over the years, And there is a lot of gibber gabber about the exstince of HavenBBS and the Wordforge database, I have decided to tell the entire story.
Now Borgs had his faults. He was not terribly capable of getting out a consicse message, he tinkered with the board software constantly, creating more work for Nick then he should have, and he had an all consuming irrational hatred of a particular poster, and wanted to ban him. But Borgs did own the board. As faisent put in in regards to Elwoods ownership of the board:
Borgs owned it, lock, stock, and database. He owned it, ran it, appointed staff for it, and made policy decisions regarding it. But he made a mistake. He kept, or appointed a clique on staff. One that he could never hope to be a part of.
His second mistake was in not listening to the clique on how he, as owner, should be running their board.
That proved to be deadly.
Deadlier still, was that after several long running battles, he wanted to fire a few persons on his staff, which was his right as owner. Did these people resign in protest, saying fuck you, I quit? Of course not. You don't go after principal members of Elitforge without some serious consequences, even if you are the owner of the board.
So, did they resign in protest, along with his Admins? No.
Did they leave, and go someplace else? No.
Did they just take it, and go back to being regular posters on the board? No
Did they enlist the membership to help them straighten Borgs out, making the case as to why he was wrong on some issues? No.
What did they do you ask?
I'll tell you. They stole the board right out from under him, using theft, and the blackmail of the destruction of the Worforge comunity, along with a trolling and smear campagine designed to pressure him into selling WF and to make him look totally unstable in the eyes of the membership so that the coup actually appeared to be a blessed thing in restoring order.
How was this achieved?
Well the first thing was to set-up a seperate, secret chatroom called #meeting to discuss, and fine tune the plot, since Borgs was logged into the regular chat almost 24/7 at that point. Most of the staff and some select outsiders were invited to participate, and it was a pretty busy place.
The second thing was to steal form Borgs, to take his lawful property, the Wordforge database which contained all of our usernames, post counts, email addresses, pm boxes, and every thread and post on the board up to that point, and use it without his knowlege or permission, or ours, to create the now eliminated HavenBBS.
The HavenBBS had two purposes: It was primarily to be used as a form of blackmail. Borgs was told that if he didn't capitulate and sell the board, Haven, which was a totally complete and ready to go board would be activated, and at least half of the membership might leave WF, leaving him with no staff, a declining membership, and a fractured comunity, fighting each other constantly.
Haven needed to be fully functional for Borgs to see that there was the ability to carry out the threat, should he refuse to sell. Several staff members plus a select few others like myself did test post on Haven, I think we put a hundred or so post on that board. Although that was really the last ditch option, since even with the entire WF database they weren't sure how many would leave WF proper over what amounted to a staff fight.
The third part of the plan was for some people to publicly troll Borgs as talk's went on, over every single policy issue going. This was to keep him off balance and pressured, and make him look totally paranoid and irrational in the eyes of the membership. This was hoped to spark a board wide call for Borgs to step down, and to even further pressure him to sell.
At that point, Borgs had few friends here. His closest ally, who was sending him supportive messages and giving him advice, saw the handwriting on the wall and was secretly begging Elwood for an Admin position when he won. Now Borgs might not have neen the most stable human being, but he did actually care about Worforge and it's comunity, so he caved in, and sold the board.
But never let it be said that Eliteforge isn't petty in victory though. There was a further plan to troll Borgs to the breaking boint after the sale, and to insure getting a pretext to permaban him after a suitable time had passed. Once he was gone, they could institute a smear campaigne against him at their leasuire to give the apperance that they were actually the savoiors of Wordforge, not traitorus bastards who were disgruntled, and used theft, lies, and blackmail to get what they wanted.
So, how moral was that, and what does it say about the leadership here?
With everybody bandying about words like courage, integrity, honesty, openness, etc., etc., I thought it was time to come clean on the matter. And before anybody calls this a lie, remember, there are emails, and chat transcripts on the matter.
There will also be a dupe of this thread at TK, if you feel too afraid to discuss it here.

I don't know the details of your contract with him (if any) though most IP transactions involve all such things like backups and the like. In other words, if you sold him the board, you sold him the rights to all information stored in whatever format relating to the board. If you'd scratched notes down on a cocktail napkin about its design, he'd own those as well.
