you guys seem cool down here - so maybe you know the answer to this:

what is the significance of the "scrambled" avatar?

The server had a glitch some time ago, and did that to everybody's av. Those who still have them, have either left, or are too lazy to change them. In many cases, the avatar looks completely to yourself, though it is scrambled.

The board went down a while ago, and everyone had to re-load their avatars. Those who didn't appear scrambled like the egg whites I ate this morning with tabasco sauce and green peppers.
