I think I May Have Just Broken Myself

eloisel

Forever Empress E
The dogs dug a hole and a tunnel in the kennel - big enough the 180 lb. dog fell into it and got lodged up under part of a tree root and the concrete edge under the kennel wall. He is older than me (about 140 plus in dog years) and his hips have all but give out completely so he wasn't able to do anything to help himself out of that hole. The way his back legs were bent, I thought he might have broken them. Had to dig a bigger hole around him, move big chunks of concrete, cut through roots - finally got to where I could get ahold of him and pull him up. Surprisingly, he is undamaged - nothing appears broken and he is walking better than before he fell in the hole. But, he was screaming so loud and it looked like he'd broken bones and was in real trouble, so I'd rushed into help him out without putting on a breath mask. Now I've inhaled all that dirt and other foul stuff out in the kennel, my back is killing me and my left hip is locked up. I think I've done myself some damage. If y'all don't see me around for awhile, I've put myself in the hospital for repairs.

Awww geeez E.....you saved the doggie and now you have paid the price for several days....just doesn't seem fair...:( But you are a hero....

Take a nice long hot bath to sooth your muscles, a couple advil to help you relax....and get you butt in bed early...... ;)

Sending you positive vibes for a speedy recovery.....

Thanks Sparkle Muffin, Caitronia, and Ru. I've taken some aspirin and put the heating pad on my backside. The kid learned stuff at massage therapy school that comes in handy at times like this.

Wait is this some comparison to another message board? Where’s the url to it? And why can’t our female members post in the right fora anymore?

Ha, ha, ha, ha ...
Yes.
No.
Because.

One chair is taken away and the music starts again!

Really E you should take RU's advice about the Advil -- it really does help a lot!! Take 4 and you will feel much, much better.

I left my bottle of Advil at work. The kid will be home soon and I'm sending her back out for stuff. She doesn't pick up her cell phone when she's driving. I left her a message but I guess she hasn't made any stops yet and checked her messages.

Well, the kid is finally home. She insists on eating her dinner before she takes care of me. Boo hoo. Boo hoo. I think I'll eat another Girl Scout cookie while I wait for her to finish her veggies. Oh - now she's ready! Later.

That was a good thing you did, eloisel. I am sorry you hurt yourself in the process though. Take care, and hope you get all better soon.

If she takes 4 she won't be able to feel anything at all !

How are you feeling now Eloisel?

I'm doing pretty good today. Advil works wonders!

Poor old Tyler, as soon as I got him out of the hole he got up and went in the house, leaving me stuck in the dirt in the kennel. I'd make him feel guilty but his days are numbered. I'll miss that big dog when he is gone. There is something comforting about living with a giant dog in the hall.

My favorite story about him:
I was at home recovering from some minor surgery when the flower delivery guy arrived. I saw the van pull up but the guy got to the middle of my yard before I could get up and get to the front door. Tyler - being the big dog that he is - stood up in the window - his muzzle pressed against the top pane section - and growled his big rumbling dog growl he reserves for strangers and possible interlopers because that growl shakes floors, walls and glass. The flower guy took one look at Tyler filling the window, threw a florist card at my front porch and hightailed it back to his van.

^ .40 S&W bullets over the head has the same effect.

Sometimes they even shit themselves.

Yeah, but I have to be awake to fire bullets, and bullets come down somewhere. Big dog never sleeps when possible interlopers are in the vicinity.

I have found that pulling the pump back on a pump shotgun will make would-be burglars leave the premises in a hurry. Nothing quite like that sound. It fills the air in a dark house.

I know what ya mean. I used to have a big loveable moose of a Black Lab. Dumb as a box of rocks but loyal and scary as Hell when he needed to be. Something very comforting in that. You don't need a gun when you have a 100 plus pound Lab in the house. Since Tyler's getting up in years, have you considered getting a puppy before that day comes?
