I want to be a TK purist like Menty.

My regard for Menty has a purity all its own. It is a deeply-held respect, combined with an animal lust and a desire to do things to him that would most likely necesitate a tranquilizer gun to fully realize.

I don't think enough, actually. And it's rarely about the genitalia of others.
 
DEA, Lizardlaugh, a89ares, Che, IJD GAF, Slarus, GAT.... to name a few. The real first generation of TK-ers...... where are they now? I figure we are on at least the 4th generation now...maybe 5th.

When we were setting up the forums for this incarnation of TK (after the ezboard) Red Whacker told me to cut most of them and make a basic board. He said something like "TK will become what it becomes." I always took that to mean, let the members steer the direction the board takes and I still believe its one of the only reasons TK continues to thrive.

If the 'old guard' (ie real trolls) feels threatened by new posters and their antics.... too bad, huh? It's OK to go to another board and disrupt/troll... but we dont want that here? It just doesnt work that way. We have the ignore function and spam free zones. Anything beyond that is edging towards rules .....

We dont want that, now do we?

I don't believe I made even a passing comment that it should be one way or another. Nor did I allude to the fact that I or anyone else is threatened. How odd.

I simply stated that TK is, for a growing number, not fun anymore. I am not whining or complaning about that fact. I am stating it though.

You seem to have missed the point. I am not talking about fixing things or avoiding trouble, or being pissed off about this or that. Like I said, I could care less. I made a post pointing to my personal feelings. Those feelings are shared by a few long standing members. I am not putting forth any ideas or opnions on how to rectify or fix anything.

Just stating the facts.


I am sure that the new bunch of posters who like to shout and play out these rediculous and vacant duals will have a blast. I will simply not be posting here as often. Thats just the way it is, I made my point pretty clear that TK is about freedom. Freedom to be an idiot is covered as well.


And thats that.
 
I would disagree that the old guard feels "threatened" by change or recent events. It just comes down to personal enjoyment of the surroundings, which is different for each member.

Change is good, you should keep karma/points turned off for a while just to see who leaves over that. It could be an interesting experiment...

Thats what drew me here. The board I was at was dull and toothless, when MM and TQ showed up it was like a breath of fresh air.

It was weird when I first got here. It's still weird now, but I really like it.
 
Menty dear, that comment wasnt directed at you, but a general comment concerning some of the muttering I've been hearing around here and there. Everytime you get new members, you have new dynamics within the community. And never getting new members is death for any community.

You'll still be getting those cookies from me at Christmas though.

Everytime you get new members, you have new dynamics within the community. And never getting new members is death for any community.

Very true. I have campaigned for new posters in the past. New blood is welcome, and a board will die without it. Really if we dig right down into what I am thinking about the current climate, it's all about my near disbelief at the stupidity magnet that seems to be attached to TK's ass.

This is slightly strange since we have some pretty smart peeps who post here. It is true that posters like Kerb Krawler, Chardanook, Jack, Bitchslapsmitty (yes I said Bitchslapsmitty, good geezer) are higher up on the intellectual ladder but we seem to be overun by posters who have no real character or contribution to make. They dont make me laugh, they dont make me think, they don't make me annoyed, they just make me tired. Now being really smart and funny isn't a prerequisite of being a decent poster (thank god) Its just that they are being thick and unfunny in worrisome numbers. And the whole focus of the board has shifted as a result. I don't know about other people but I just don't feel the same sense of fun and laughs anymore. I used to crack up on a daily basis here.

I tend to make my points in rather harsh terms but I think they are valid. But I am not posting just to whine or moan. I am just laying out my views on the matter.

It's the lameness of it all. It's embarrasing to read the crap thats chatted here these days.

Hopefully with the removal of the Karma system we will see some positive changes. It was getting incredibly old. Gimmicks are fun for a while, hell I'm game but after a while....

I agree even being new on this forum, the whole VKD daily lecture karma wars were so tedious.... and hugely unfunny.... I like it here , many of you have made me welcome so id thank you all for that....

Mentalist pretty much got it right. The problem here is a lack of originality and creativity from new members and duals. When I used BUZZ_BUNNY I ditched him pretty fast because even though he was an entertaining character I knew he’d get old real quick. These new members and their duals don’t seem to get that.

I’m not sure how we can correct this wave of stupidity and lameness that’s hit the board recently other than to suggest ditching the karma system and to lead by example. I’ll make an effort to post in more forums other than GFHH.
