The valley is so smokey this morning. I woke up at 5 AM and I cannot get back to sleep.

As some of you may know, the place where I lived and worked was evacuated yesterday. Everyone thus far has gotten out safely. The drive down the mountain was really unpleasant. 10 miles of road to the lake and we were driving next to fires, smoldering trees and embers. The main part of the fire having passed through in the night.
We were evacuated by road, the rest were evacuated by helicopter.

The ride down the lake was smokey. Tourists were trying to get pictures. Boaters were out as well, people were swimming in the lake yesterday.

When I got back to my car there were ashes on it. And the temperature was 10 degrees hotter than where I was.

We all gathered yesterday in different places and we just wait for updates on how the rest of the valley is doing.

I am amazed at how smooth the evac went yesterday.

The other emotions are indescribable. I have only been there a few months, others have had their entire lives there.

We are being evacuated a 2nd time. The incident response team (Type 1) is also moving. This is becoming one wild ride. OMFG

Evacuated a 2nd time on Friday due to new fires in the area. Early morning lightning strikes caused 4-5 different fires. Or if you want to tickle your TK conspiracy theory bone-"Government officials caused 4 wildfires and are burning out the cities!"

I read that a large portion of the CA wildfire-fighters are actually prison inmates working for a dollar a day.
