I'm trying to work on this work for my business classes, and it sucks! I think I'll be able to pass...it'll be borderline, though (which is very unusual for me). I got behind after we moved, and I never could catch up after that.

*Sigh*

I'm so over college. It's time to graduate already...anyone feel me here?!

You'll feel much better when you can finally clear your head of all that cramming.

I agree...and it's been one thing after another. It was the move, then losing my internet for a couple of weeks, then a funeral, now the feud over the house we're supposed to be getting. I've been thrown off this whole semester.

Usually I'm the nerd that won't accept less than an A; now I'm the kid that's thinking, "Gee...hope I can pass!"

Oh man...
We're like current life twins, no lie. Hahaha! I feel ya!

Eh...it's eCommerce, Leadership and Organizational Dynamics, and Management: Principles and Practices. Bleh...I've got about a year left.

Why are strippers always majoring in some exotic intellectual college thing we've never heard of?

I gotta cut you off at the knees here. Most strip clubs are run by some sort of organized crime dealies there. You only make "more money" dancing if you perform "certain services" otherwise you're a wage slave any way you look at it. The idea that there are "independent" strippers is bullshit. They own you one way or the other.

I have two daughters probably older than the five of you. One of them is just earning her BA in Theatre with a Dance major and Technical Theatre minor. She "earned" her way through school working 32 hours a week at this job while studying. She dances everywhere she goes, it seems, but never for men at a club, unless it's with a man she's dating at a club they are going out dancing to. She just recently turned down a 40+K a year position with the place she worked to persue this dancing and acting career because she can. She has close to 50k in the bank from saving the last few years, and she's coming back to live with us so she can "afford" to apprentice.

Either you're junkies or full of shit, pick 'em.

^ I'm not a stripper. I just did the jazz/ballet/hip-hip kind of dance. I know, I know...just like everyone else...you want to know WHY I ended up on StripperWeb...and why I'm still there, right?

I have no clue...it's a fun place to be, I guess.

One CAN make money as a non-stripper type dancer, my wife just gave up Ballet due to health reasons, good money overall, but inconsistent and not good money if you divide salary by the hours she put in between working out, classes (constant) and rehearsals. We never depended on her income, it was always set aside for things like trips and her vehicle (she drives a nicer car than I do), or for a rainy-day fund.
As a dance teacher, her income was much less, but it was steady, and she was able to not re-injure her knee frequently.

The other ironic thing: she has a 4 year degree in accounting (as well as dance, dual major).

I had a horrible knee injury a couple years ago, and I haven't really danced since. I went back to dancing too soon after healing...and for a hockey team, too. They wanted us to dance on the ice, and I wasn't comfortable with that (I mean, come on...what if I fell?). I would like to get back into it sometime, but I just haven't figured out what I want to do.

I know what you mean on the knee injuries, though. They are NOT cool. I did it twice, and I learned my lesson.

Actually, in Canada anyways...you're right and you're wrong.
You're right about the organized crime involvement, some places more than others...but its usually always a presence. <--It's a presence with a lot of "shady" money making operations (Casinos? hello?)

But here, the girls that perform "certain services" do not make more money. There are two agencies that rep most of the strippers in BC, there are some girls that just don't make the cut with regards to looks...and well, I guess just looks. Anyways, they get very little...if any, stage time. So, they take all that time (for whatever reason...I mean, why wouldn't you just get another job?) to perform "certain services". <--They make less than feature dancers do and they do it anyways.

So sure, here you are required to have agency representation to basically guarantee you any work...and if not, you are adopted as an in-house dancer at a certain club...and then you're paying house fees. <--The independence factor isn't there, its with hours worked, when you come in, when you go home, and all that jazz. It's great to poke fun at the stereotypical single mom stripper...but it makes sense, doesn't it?

And they aren't wage slaves either...its all how good your hustle is. Most girls will agree that the vast majority of their money made (in most cases) isn't on stage doing sets...its in the private rooms doing VIPs. <--If you can hustle, you'll bank...if you can't, you'll earn negative dollars after paying out your house fees. That's just the way it works.
