Why the fuck in Mrs Doubtfire do they claim that she's English when Robin Williams is clearly doing a Scottish accent? Why didn't he correct them?

Some Americans use English and British interchangeably. You would think Pierce would know the difference though.

Like how Helen Baxendale had to speak in an American idea of an English accent in Friends rather than just use her natural (English) accent.

Many Americans wouldn't be able to spot/describe the difference between English Scottish Welsh or Scouse, Cockney, Liverpudlian, Keith Richards...

Unless they are geek Britophiles and/or Bond fans and Doctor Who fans and Monty Python fans and...

But then I have the same observation about British actors doing American accents. Some are amazing like Matthew Rhys and Laura Fraser (Lydia on Breaking Bad) and some were okay like Hugh Laurie and Michelle Dockery, and some were fair to bad like Alfred Molina, Rose Leslie, , or anyone cast in guest roles as Americans in Downton Abbey. Christian Bale has done it countless times but he's not as good as he thinks he is.
