Is this how it ends? With a "page cannot be displayed" screen and dead silence?

Over six years of history with big blue – I’ve been a moderator, troll, sage elder, witty harlequin and compassionate converser. All of that - gone in a moment.

Just doesn't seem fair. Stories don't end like this.

I suppose the healthy thing to do would be to get some perspective; "hey, it's just a bulletin board, after all". Accept there's nothing I can do and move in a more positive direction without such ludicrous attachments to an online community.

It *would* be the healthy thing to do.

But I'm going to be honest with you... I can't do that. I have been betrayed by TrekBBS at the highest levels. They cut me down as a petty example.

"Dissent .... will *not* be tolerated."

Every time I have been cast out, the conservative forces tighten their grip on the board. I fear now conversation will now become even more stifled and cautious.

It is a tragedy.

I offer TrekBBS one - last - chance to redeem itself in my eyes.

I will return in spite of this permaban - always have, always will. It's only a matter of time. Allow me to return and resume contributing to the community as I have done so without incident for the past seven months. If not, then I come back in a year under a different name and resume my benign and often entertaining behavior. What a waste of a year… think of all the TrekBBS and its membership will lose over 12 months without my input.

I know. It's just hard seeing your childhood heroes take a beating like that. :(

Just like how I know Callan won't REALLY go evil. Good guys never do that.
 
I won't "go" evil. I haven't made a single threat. T'Bonz and co have left me in the dark like I'm some vindictive pariah. I was a positive component of the community and was given the shaft over an entirely superficial act. The only threat implicit in my "last chance" comment is the threat of my own disappointment in them - which won't mean much, will it?
 
Well, "I" am "them". I post at TrekBBS and am a member of its moderating staff, though I've never actually encountered you there. I joined the staff after you left it. However, I can remember often hearing Lisa speak fondly of you, and I must admit it really is just about the only thing that defines your personality for me. I've been very busy IRL and most of my online time has been spent here, so I didn't get to know "Tristian", though a lot of people were saddened to hear he was banned, including some mods.

If I could make a suggestion, you would be best served trying to contact Bonz in private and pleading your case. When you were permabanned initially, and then came back, I get the sense a blind eye was turned to it because you didn't ever do anything wrong to draw the attention of the mods. If you approach her with that in mind, there may be some hope for you coming back there. Saying things like what you did up above or making over-the-top posts here however, will NOT help you at all.

Just giving you some friendly advice.

I already emailed T'Bonz and offered my apologies - haven't heard a peep from her so I can only assume it's over. All the above is just over-the-top histrionics. Anyone who knows me knows that my bombastic, OTT declarations are little more than satire.

I mean come on ... "betrayed at the highest level"? LMAO. "Ohhhhhhhh! The vicious, savage blade of T'bonz's romulan dagger was thrust into my fertile loins, rendering me impotent and broken! The proverbial rivers of TrekBBS will run with the blood of those who hath turned their back on the man of stars! 'tis folly! Stay this madness before the sea of the Net is engulfed in my anger and remorse!"

I just make it up as I go along. It's fun!

Forget this "pleading" nonsense. If you want your dog to behave, you gotta lay down the law and give it a good smack on the nose every once in a while. Same goes for T'Bonz:

I recommend you begin by setting several conditions for your return to TBBS. For example:

(1) A full apology for the ban, stickied at the top of every forum.

(2) 20% of the ad revenue for the next three months to compensate for your pain and suffering

(3) an honorary title of your choosing

That's just for starters. If they want the pleasure of your presence at TBBS, they must work for it. Remember: your dog won't behave itself if it doesn't know you're the master.
 
I know it can sometimes be easier than you think to get enough warnings for a one day ban, but I reckon you must really have to try hard to get a perma.
 
Tristian, I know from experience that several legitimate factors contribute to delayed responses from Bonz to e-mails and PMs, not the least of which are the head-thumping number of messages she receives.

Not defending anyone or getting in the middle of this, I'm just mentioning it because I think Blazerboy's advice is sound.
