You know, at least we can say that Ford did little damage on his watch.
Yes, he pardoned Nixon, but his reasons for doing so were at least in the right place. This country had gone through multiple assassinations in the 60s, Vietnam, and Watergate. We needed to heal.
In hindsight, perhaps he was wrong. Maybe trying Nixon would have put a stop to the ping pong game we've been playing ever since, with both parties trying to fuck the other one over whenever they're in power. But probably not.
I don't think Ford had malice towards anyone, so we should probably just give him a break in the usual excoriating of politicians when they are near death or dead.
