Is the world really watching?

Laker_Girl

Mrs. Big Dick McGee
A newscaster said that the O.J. Simpson arrest is the story that the world is watching? Really? The whole world? Somehow I doubt that. Nothing could be more insignificant. O.J. got away with double homicide and he'll undoubtedly get away with robbery. Don't want to upset the black folks, might have another riot on our hands. Can't just be civil, gotta burn down the 'hood and beat every white man in their paths.

I think the OJ Simpson arrest is a big yawnfest... I also think that this time, there will be no support for him from the black "community" like there was when he murdered his wife and her boyfriend.

Newscasters just yap on to fill empty air and try and sound important. They make a big deal out of everything celebrities do, and justify it by saying that it's what the people want to know about. I hope they are in for an awakening of some kind. I am sick of the news treating Brittney Spears or Paris Hilton, etc as if they are the most important and newsworthy subjects. 24 hour cable news has just about killed any credibility the news media had.

I'm not watching, so the statement is false. Infotainment really doesn't do much for me, so I rarely watch the news anyway.

However, I'll append this by saying that if I'd been fortunate enough to escape being sentenced for a double murder that I'd obviously committed, I think I might count my blessings and maintain a low profile for the rest of my life. Apparently this guy is either too stupid or fucked in the head to even consider that possibility.

OJ was simply looking for the real killer in that hotel room. The clues were among the stolen memorabillia he was trying to recover.

He'll go free, that you can be sure of!

You guys all seem to forget that THIS IS AMERICA

No one stays in jail in this country

Not this time around. I doubt this will get the whole of the media's attention, and any judge would be stupid to allow cameras near that hearing, after the media circus the '95 case was.
O.J. got away with double homicide and he'll undoubtedly get away with robbery.
Nigga, please.Everyone knows the guy did it, but the prosecution botched up their case pretty good and fucked their own credibility. Plus, O.J. had the money to buy himself a pretty good lawyer last time around. I doubt that will be the case, especially since this is miles away from LA (Which has a long history of letting celebrities off the hook Robert Blake, anyone? R. Kelley?)

I think the blacks will rally around him ONLY if he's found guilty. Jackson and Sharpton will try and use it as a rally ctry etc..

I do think that there's a good possibility he'll be found guilty. A lot will depend on the jury and judge. As he's facing kidnapping charges, they may slap him with the maximum and unofficially call it divine retribution for the murders he "didn't commit".

Makes you wonder though, do they have book signings in prison?

Anna--Are you from southern California? Do you have any idea the lengths any legal system will go to in order not to have another race riot like in 1993? Probably not. I like you too but Vegas isn't ready for the black uprising and unrest. And now especially with the whole Jena 6 in the headlines. Christ, they'll give O.J. a plea deal and he'll be on probation for 10 years.

You're assuming there will be a huge black uprising on his behalf.Someone at another board mentioned the fact that the Rodney King beating of '93 was still fresh in people's mind back when OJ got off the first time around.

And now especially with the whole Jena 6 in the headlines. Christ, they'll give O.J. a plea deal and he'll be on probation for 10 years.
Most people I know here in northern California were barely award of that march for the Jena 6 until the morning it happened. I happened to find out from a girl that was waiting at the bus stop with me. And I'd think that most knows the South is well-known for their racism and everyone on both sides of the color divide is as guilty of keeping this shit up.

If anything, this will be akin to how that mobster Scarface got put in prison for tax evasion, since TPTB couldn't get him on any other charge. And good riddance to OJ.

You're assuming any legal system is going to take that chance. Don't be niave. I honestly don't know of a black person today that now believes O.J. killed Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman.

It's unfortunate that in the liberal la-la land that IS northern California you're not being kept informed on important news events like the racial tensions behind the Jena 6 case but blame your local papers and local news don't take away from the significance of the event. I'm sure there was a gay pride parade to cover or some Democratic function or an art show and your news didn't get around to picking up important issues until a reporter saw it on the Sundance Channel.

Good God, you have the nerve to say anything I put a spin on is "stupid" and you counter with this?

I do. My mom does. Just about everyone in my family would be none to sad to see his ass rot in jail. And that goes for every black friend I have.

Next, plz.
