Johnny Manziel signed with CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Manziel was released by the Cleveland Browns in March 2016.
 
Manziel is expected to be Tiger-Cats backup QB to Jeremiah Masoli for the entire season.

Former Heisman Trophy winner Manziel made his preseason CFL debut, completing 9 of 11 passes for 80 yards in five offensive possession that did not result in any points for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The Tiger-Cats ultimately lost to the Toronto Argonauts 36-18.

Manziel was 12-of-20 for 88 yards and a touchdown, and the Tiger-Cats scored 30 straight points to beat the Montreal Alouettes 30-15 in the final preseason game for both teams.

The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner at Texas A&M also ran for 19 yards. He is set to back up starter Jeremiah Masoli

The way Jeremiah Masoli is playing Johnny Manziel isn't going to see the field anytime soon.

Masoli passed for 333 yards this week in the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 18-13 loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

It was Masoli's ninth consecutive game with at least 300 passing yards, tying the CFL record.

Alas, Manziel has yet to play.
 
Johnny Manziel traded to the Montreal Alouettes

All signs point towards Manziel getting his first CFL start this week.

When the Alouettes reassembled for practice on Monday, the ,2012 Heisman Trophy winner took snaps with the first-stringers before last week's starter, Vernon Adams.

If he starts, Manziel will be the fourth starter and fifth quarterback overall to play for Montreal (1-5) in six games this season.
 
Johnny Manziel eliminated the interceptions but couldn't generate enough offense for the Montreal Alouettes in a 24-17 loss to the Ottawa Redblacks.

After throwing four first-half interceptions last week in his Montreal debut, Manziel was 16-of-26 for 168 yards without an interception.

He also ran three times for 36 yards, with his fumble at the goal line recovered for a third quarter touchdown.

Montreal is 1-7 this season and won just once in 19 games going back a year.
 
Johnny Manziel has been placed in the CFL's concussion protocol.

Manziel informed the Alouettes' medical staff that he was feeling symptoms "that could be associated with the prescribed medication he uses for a previously diagnosed medical condition" and he missed practice to get blood work done.
