Kitty!

Cacophony

GTC brought a cat that was running around in the parking lot of his work home the other morning so it didn't get hit in the traffic, and it's so cute! It's well groomed and house trained, declawed, fixed, and likely has all of it's shots. We took it to the vet to see if it had an ID chip in it, but it didn't, and we've left word with the local animal shelters.

But if the owner doesn't surface, we're keeping it.

But the problem is (other than the fact that it doesn't get along with the other cat that's bigger and still has it's claws) is that we can't decide on a name. At first we thought it was a female cat and settled on Tiger Lily, but the vet said it's a male so that won't work and I hate the name Tiger for a cat.

So what should we name it, TK? GTC likes Tigger (which I hate) and I like Achilles (because he's a tough mother fucker but his weakness lies in his feet - but GTC's not too fond of it) so we're kind of stuck.

Pictures for reference!

We have two cats that look very much like this kitten. One is named Clyde, the other is named Loki.

How about a name that has something to do with parking lots, traffic, being a rescue kitty? You know like:

Could have been Road Kill
Stripe
Red Light
Pavement Runner

or
Sleepy
Yellow Eyes
Ginger Boy

or
Bob

Bob Bob (aka Big Bob) is my cat and he is an awesome cat.

Names for cats I've had over the years.

Tiger (my first cat. Named for his sheer size and striping on his fur. His temper also lent a hand in his naming. Unfortunately his temper is what caused us to put him down. He was too violent to have. Attacked everyone. I still have a scar on my foot from him.)
Cheetah (second cat. named for his speed. Fastest kitten ever. He was a Maine Coon. Beautiful, big and muscular. We had to put him down because he developed a brain tumor.)
Jynx (third. When he was a kitten he broke or ripped apart everything in the house. Hit by a car. Name was appropriate, no?)
Squeex (so named because when he was a kitten he only squeaked instead of making mini meows. His kidneys failed him and we had to put him down.)
Isabel (beautiful black shorthair. Most docile cat. A true love. Given to another home where she lived for years and died at a very old age.)
Spot, AKA Spot, the whore; spot, the slut; spot, our little Catholic kitty (she is a calico and has one silver dollar-sized spot on her head. Responsible for five litters of kittens. We kept two of them, gave the rest to homes. Not a single kitten went to the ASPCA PS she's 18 and still lives at my parents' house)
We named all of Spot's kittens. Names included, Teddy, skipper, yeller, zip, and silky.
Grace. (A long-haired version of a persian blue. Soft, shy, and an absolute sweetheart. Given to another home because she was mistreated by the other cats and she needed to be in a one-cat home.)
Hypurr. (He earned his name because when he was a kitten he didn't stop moving or purring. Died quite unexpectedly last year.)
Yuengling (She was a really dirty-colored calico and she had a lot of black and tan markings all over her. Thus her name. Great mouser. Given to a family with a barn.)

Dogs Names. This list is shorter.

Lucky. (this dog was hit by a car, mauled by a doberman, left for dead and managed to find his way to our doorstep. We patched him up and kept him for two years then gave him to an older couple with a huge fenced-in yard.)
Lil' Orphan Annie, or Annie for short. (Golden Retriever, with papers. rescued her from an abusive home. She was originally named dixie. The name wasn't fitting and she never answered to it. Annie was far more appropriate.)
Connor Larkin (Named for a character from a Patrick O'Brian novel. Big Black Lab. Smart, courageous, and incredibly loyal.)
Mischief (Another Black Lab. She got her name because she was a really smart puppy that loved to get into trouble. She wasn't clumsy at all. Everything she did was on purpose. She's a real sweetheart.)

We've also had Horses, Donkeys, Fish, and a number of other animals over the years. But the dogs and cats are all worth note.

^ Shit, that's a long list. I've only had one cat of my own before, and I named him Buster when I was 4 years old.

His name is pretty much Tigger now, much to my disdain. I actually wanted to name him Loki because it definitely fits him, but GTC's not into it. I'd prefer calling him Reggit because to me, that's much better than Tigger, but oh well. Oliver was my second choice.

He's definitely not an ugly cat, jack. He's gorgeous, friendly, and a sweetheart. He's taken to lying on my lap while I'm on the computer, and if I'm laying down on the bed, he comes and lays on my chest with his paws on my shoulders and licks my chin. He's also completely house trained, which is awesome, and he has all of his shots and is fixed.

Win cat is win, I'm really hoping that the owners don't contact us because I really don't want to give him back.

I HAVE A KITTY NOW TOO!

I was out on a walk and I decided to watch the hospital helicopter take off, and the cutest lil kitty came out all skared n lost.

I had to take him home even tho he clawed the hell out of my hand!

My dog is named Teo (short for Galisteo) He's a beautiful purebred shephard:

my two cats are Starburst and Mr. Baku.

They're both indoor cats, all our other cats were outdoor cats and either became road waffles or killed in other horrible ways, never more than a year or two at a time for them.

Caco, don't listen to Jack - that's one beautiful orange tabby, alot like my Elrond.

*crosses fingers former owners never call*

I think they did, but I had to run back to the states for a few days so I don't know what's going on :(

Cats like names with an "s" in them.

They love names like
Cassie
Sweets
Puss

Mine also like being called Kitten.

Their favorite sound, though, is "rrrrrrrrrrrrr".
When I start the electric can opener, they all come running.

now Sammie has a pit bull friend, he's male too, Sammie does not seem to like females, however

my fave dog was the only female one i have taken care of, her name was Satin, i found her in a dumpster as a malnourished puppy back in late 04
i nursed her back to health and boy was she a smart dog!
yet she is probably dead now, she tried to follow me to SF in early 2006
likely she did not make it out of the desert, but maybe she did
there is always hope right?

We had to give the cat back, but now I'm trying to wear GTC down on buying a kitty from the SPCA.

They had a cuuuuuuuuute one today that was gray, white, and orange, but we're going away for a week so we couldn't very well get a kitty now.

I don't know why anyone would pay for a cat. You can probably find a free one in the newspaper.
