In the UK, Channel 4 just aired a fascinating documentry into the mind of Mark Chapman.
To sum it up briefly, Chapman had Narcissistic Personality Disorder, disguising his own insecurities and his inadequacies, as well as being schizophrenic and fanatical. He first heard voices in his head that told him to kill Lennon in the early 1970s!
He became obsessed with 'the Catcher in the Rye' and identified with the book's protaginist. In the weeks before the murder, he played out the role of Holden Caulfield as he wandered NYC.
Chapman believed that Lennon betrayed the values he had championed in the 1960s and therefore deserved to die. A few hours before he killed Lennon, he approached him and managed to get him to autograph his new album!
there was also an account from the doctor who described holding Lennon's beating heart in his hands while they attempted to save his life...!
Absolutely. Haven't you been paying attention? Yoko's been releasing his work like he's still alive for almost 20 years. She's turning out to be almost as good a thinker as her dear departed.
Her work sucks, and it's fascinating to watch such a talentless hack inherit the real keys to the kingdom, so to speak.
