LENNY HENRY UPDATE

He's a nice guy, but I know plenty of people in real life who are funnier, yet don't call themselves professional comedians.

Oh I don't wish him ill and if he was fighting Nigel Farage to the death on a clifftop I would certainly be on his side!

I wouldn't have expected the move out of BBC Television Centre to have made such a difference, but I think it really did. It looked and felt very different being filmed in a theatre rather than a tv studio, and having the creative team distributed all over the country couldn't have helped.

The Stephen Hawking sketch was pretty bad too. There was something about him going on a killing spree of nuns and care workers that seemed somewhat at odds with the charitable aims of the night.

No more at odds than the Mr Bean sketch at a funeral, which could not have been in worse taste.

It was a relief to see the starving people.

I know that sounds awful, but you get my point. At least that was real, true and connected with you in some way.

The other bits I presume were there to raise money like the smelly gipsy violin player at a pavement cafe. You pay them to go away.

This is probably the least PC post I have done for some time.

I watched less Comic Relief this year than I ever have before. I saw the Mr Bean sketch and was shocked at how bad it was and shouted "HOW COULD HE BE BLACKADDER?" at the tv. I think I looked up from my 3DS when the Vicar of Dibley thing was on because I heard Emma Watson and she's cute, but it was just another "LOOK IT'S SOME FAMOUS PEOPLE, WHO NEEDS JOKES?" thing. And that's all I remember.

Every year I tape this so I can fast forward through the tragedy and watch the comedy.

this is the first year when I can safely say it was all tragedy.
