Lieberman blasted on all sides at debate

"Senator Lieberman just called me a liar and he made a lot of outrageous accusations," Lamont replied. "Senator, everything we're talking about is your record, and you can't run from your record."

Hecklers interrupted the debate at times, and some chanted "Lieberman Protects Cheney." They were escorted from the theater.

I view it as highly suspect that Lieberman supposedly has a 17 point lead over the man who defeated him in the Democratic primary, especially after starting to take GOP money.

I think AIPAC has hung its reputation for being able to choose who wins US congressional elections on Lieberman, and far more is riding on his losing than just Connecticut. If Lieberman loses, AIPAC's credibility as king-maker takes a huge hit.

Lieberman will probably win, but I really wonder what he'll do once he goes back to Washington. He was useless as a Democrat, but he'd be even more dangerous as a GOP-asskissing Independent.

CT people may scream about hating the war, but they also have a financial interest in a booming military with their nuclear sub base in Groton. Plus half the western side of the state is filled with rich yuppies who will vote to keep their own taxes low no matter what. Lieberman is their cup of tea.

Makes me glad I moved away sometimes.

Many decades ago, all Democrats were like Lieberman. Now all Democrats are like Clinton, and Lieberman is considered a renegade.

As Ronald Reagan often said, he didn't move away from the Democratic party, they moved away from him.
