Man Gets $218 Trillion Phone Bill

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) - A Malaysian man said he nearly fainted when he recieved a $218 trillion phone bill and was ordered to pay up within 10 days or face prosecution, a newspaper reported Monday.
Yahaya Wahab said he disconnected his late father’s phone line in January after he died and settled the 84 ringgit ($23) bill, the New Straits Times reported.
But Telekom Malaysia later sent him a 806,400,000,000,000.01 ringgit ($218 trillion) bill for recent telephone calls along with orders to settle within 10 days or face legal proceedings, the newspaper reported. Read full story

Any phone company that sends out an obviously fucked-up bill like that and then threatens prosecution should have their offices covered in elephant shit from one edge of their parking lot to the other.
 
I used to live in KL, and there's no earthly reason why that phone company wouldn't try to collect on that bill - I'm sure they were thinking, "Hey, he might be a drug baron with cash to spare, let's go ahead and bill him on the off chance that he pays up. I could get that new pool-cleaning robot I've been wanting." Those guys were jerks, IIRC.

It's funny that it's 806 trillion ringgit and ONE sen, at that .4 cents U.S. really is the straw that breaks the camel's back.
